Megaman was always a mistake or stylization, simply because the other Robot Masters are never one word. It's Guts Man, not Gutsman, Metal Man, not Metalman, Tengu Man, not Tenguman, etc. It only makes sense that Mega Man would follow that trend.

The truth is, the official wording uses a space; but the official logo doesn't; but that logo was most likely done by Japs and they didn't want to use space either for consistency, or because they didn't want to have to redo MORE of the logo.

So, both things are official, I haven't checked but they probably got a coypright on both anyway, if you're going to write it and you're not Japanese, you should write it with a space.

That's not how that works. Besides the fact we know the actual reason the logo is like that is because the Japanese name is "Rockman", all one word, the logo could very easily just be said to be stylized. By this logic of taking the titles on box art completely literally, the official title of the games should be "MEGAMAN & BASS", etc. in all caps.

>> No.7014361

>>7014250
No, Capcom only ever calls the game Mega Man. The font on the covers is sometimes inobvius, but the correct spelling is two separate words and none other.

>> No.7014363

>>7014340
>By this logic

Spelling and typography aren't the same logic. The logo literally is the name of the game, which is also the name of the entire brand.

They could have just as easily put the space in there and pay the extra half day work it takes to get new logos with the space. In fact, in some cases like for MM8 US, they did.

But in most cases they didn't, so that means the alternate spelling is more than okay by them, especially considering how many times it happened. If there was one or two examples you COULD argue "okay this one logo is stylized", but look how many times it happened. Not all of them were posted either.

If that spelling wasn't okay they would have fixed it by that time.

In fact, the contrary happened. The older covers, the one they had the less control of, were usually all 2 words, with "MAN" below "MEGA", even. With time and better quality control, they got what they wanted: a single word, on a single line, matching the original Jap name.

>If it didn't matter, it'd be consistent. It's not. So, debate.
It is. It says right there on Capcom's website, the official name is "Mega Man". That's the correct name. It doesn't matter how "consistent" it is, that's the official answer right there and anything else is a mistake.

I like "Mega Man" better, cause if you apply the "Megaman" spelling to every other character then you get shit like Napalmman which just looks retarded.
