Plasma Pistol

A weak starting sidearm with infinite ammo and a slow firing speed.

Damage: 3 to 24

You now know some CQC, use it.

Same as regular Doom

Zombieman rifle which fires as fast as you can click

Played your mod for a bit and got to tricks and traps on Uv -Fast

Pretty fun, it's sorta like a crazier version of hard-doom, I know you didn't play it but try it out sometime and you will see what I mean

anyways somethings I like to mention

-This mod is balls to the wall hard on fast because of namely most of the new hitscanners. Mainly the autoshotgunner and super shotgunner. For example in the second level of doom 2, when you open the door for the super shotty. if an autoshotgunner there he easily gets 2 shots off you almost immediately. Super shotgunner you need to have crazy fast reflexes to kill otherwise he will tear you a new one. I don't know, these two seem to react pretty fucking quickly.

-Those chaingun weilding demons (pinkies) sometimes get stuck in place.

-Also those rock-spewing demons can walk off ledges, I don't know if that was intentional or not but none of the other pinkies do.

-I think you should make the super shotgun the 3rd weapon in the shotgun list because whenever I hit 3 I end up with the auto-shotgun that while nice, I find it more coveniant to immediate have the super shotty. Same thing with the 2 plasma guns.

Thats it really. But yeah it's pretty damn hard. Any idea of getting new chaingun/rocket launcher sprites? you did change the plasma gun.

Well, Your right, I guess I'm being a little defensive. Let me just rephrase what I meant, zombiemen and sargeants walk around a bit then shoot (with a slight pause). Obviously they don't walk around much in fast but you still have a window of oppurtunity. But the sutoshotgunners and super shotgunners almost immediately fire when they see you. I guess it's sorta hard to describe what I'm saying, but it's sort of a problem when they do so much damage.

Well, like hard-doom and those other difficulty enhancing mon-wep mods, you have to take in tactics. The regular shotgun is good, the pellets have been refocused, so much so that you can take out a Demon in one shot. Take some cover and take out the hitscanners. Of course, some maps have hit-scanners located a distance away so I advise a rocket launcher or the chaingun. In any case, you can use usual DOOM tactics here, you have to move outta sight enough to avoid damage. Having completed nightmare on vanilla I can assure you that you also need to know the monster placement on the map. As the monsters are replaced by variants, just remember there is the possibility it could be an auto-shotgunner or super shotgunner, open a door, take a peek at their feet, strafe to the corner and prepare to move in and out to shoot them. As we both know, they fire away instantly. Unless the creator wishes to change that, it's just what you'll have to do. It's just one of those mods where you are going to take damage unless you take another tactic into account. I personally don't like hiding, I like running around and killing everything before it gets the chance to get me, but that's just not possible with these changes, especially with fastmon on.

--All enemies* are now modified to behave in a FRACTAL manner.
--The Pain Elementals and Lost Souls have had their number of offspring reduced so they are slightly less ridiculous.
--In order to make hitting many small things easier, the Shotgun and Super Shotgun have been changed so that instead of firing 7 pellets for 35-105 damage and 20 pellets for 100-300 damage, they fire 35 pellets for 35-105 damage and 100 pellets for 100-300 damage, respectively.
--Shell and Bullet pickups have been increased a good amount to compensate for the increased number of enemies.
--The Plasma Rifle has been given an alternate Fractal fire, which uses 3 cells per shot.
--It is, as last version, compatible with zandronum.
--More updates/tweaks will come with feedback or as I get more ideas.
(*except for keen and Wolfenstein SS; left keen alone since changing him would mess up a lot of WADs.)

Hat for the revenant riding the rocket was taken from "Fistfull of Doom."

The only issue I have with this, is the super hard mode. There are floors which hurt you in DOOM, floors where there are no radiation suits, like E2M3. I've only died to that so far. Picking up the shotgun on M2M1 requires sheer luck, for Ultimate (since baddies still take damage to die)

That was kind of the point, Ultimate is more of a "2hardcore4u" type thing. I'll see if I can do anything to make it more fair, but for now I'd recommend you jump.

Is there any way to make a custom key and make it work on certain doors in Doom?

Let's say I want to include a green key in a zDoom in Hexen format map, is it possible to do, or should I stick to the 8 possible combinations for doors?

Also, I'll be sorry to hear about having to mess with ACS scripting if it's the only way to make such thing possible in Doom. I'm not screwing with ACS over one creature. Port's almost done anyway, but I had to take out S&D, Ultimate and the damage enhancement on Casual mode. I even tried creating an instagib class, but it doesn't work well enough for me to want to implement it.
I'm also not fucking around with fake inventories over a single creature. Zandronum seriously needs to implement at least a few of the more convenient features of ZDoom at this point. I can see how "monsterhealth" wouldn't be relevant to a multiplayer port, but you'd think user defined variables would be in by now. Same with the Custom Missile stuff, considering that it would probably be very useful to weapon coders.

Yes. It was thriving at first, then the wad killed itself halfway through and started playing default maps with eye of the tiger and beat it(michael jackson) instrumentals running in the background. So I tried Fractal Doom with Russian Overkill, just to see how it'd act. Everything works okay besides that the normal guns that were changed by Fractal Doom drop instead of the Russian Overkill ones. But since only the RO ammo spawns normally, this is kind of a problem.

When you've got the Fractal Doom shotguns only, and only RO shells spawn, I hope you get why this is a problem. Keep in mind that the default RO difficulty is UV.

What I recommend to the person making FD is to make a version that doesn't replace weapons.

I've had that issue a lot in the past. Started on tons of different Doom projects over the years, but never finished any of them. Had one that was actually coming along nicely too, with several maps with a lot of progress done on them and lots of custom resources. 'Course, looking back on it a lot of it was crap, but there were some interesting ideas sprinkled about here and there that I'm recycling for my latest project.

Now, while I've still got a lot of different ideas sprouting in my mind, I'm forcefully holding myself back from acting on them to keep myself from getting sidetracked from the map project I'm currently working on. It's tough at times, since there's this impulsive urge to work on the SHINY NEW THING, but I realize now that if I can't bother to finish what's in front of me, there's zero way I can guarantee I'll finish whatever little whim I come across next either. Gotta keep that temperament that'll allow me to actually complete something, at least something more than a lol monster replacement mod.

I mean, shit, while I was compiling the "100 Best WADS of All Time/Cacowards" thing from Doomworld I noticed that it'll be so big it'll blow most people away. Most of those WADS are either megawads or community compilations, and the very first levels end up being as big and excruciating as The Living End (MAP29 from Doom 2). Even if they end up downloading the whole thing, I highly doubt they'll end up playing at least one single megawad without feeling sick of playing mods ten times bigger than the original games.

And only the perseverant will succeed in the world of Doom modding. And I'll be damned if it doesn't pays off

I found that with Assassin 2015, the only way to make it playable right away for a downloader is if you package a Windows 95/98 VM with it or include instructions that state needing a VM. As I could not find any way of getting it to run on WinXP or Win7, it would always come up with "Not a valid Win32 file" or similar message. Shame too as it seems like a fun game, but least we can play it via VMs.

I more dislike the backlash he got. It's a fun mod but since everyone is so split on it it's annoying to talk about. I think it's great. Not as good as classic doom, but fun as hell. Fractal Doom has been updated.

Now includes tiny fractal marines that infrequently spawn when the player is injured. They're friendly, and immune to most friendly fire, but rockets and the bfg will still kill them.

Also revenant rockets are shootable, ala Burl Tumb (Thanks Eric!)

Alright,so the Homing Launcher has less radius and damage than the rocket launcher, but homes in very well, even around corners. Alright, so, the SMG fires very fast 3 round bursts, not unlike the rifle from BURL TUMD (but the SMG is faster I think). It's also extremely accurate. The catch is, it's got the worst damage per shot. It drops from jetpack zombies, who dual wield them You can't because balance. The chaingun now warms up a lot slower and cools down a lot slower as well. All that's left to do is add Demonicenergy drops to a few more creatures and 1.09 will be uploaded.

You've totally missed the point then. Just poke over at the Samsara changelogs to see the countless balance tweaks to keep each character competitive yet balanced across different game modes. Further, discussion on the Samsara thread on the Zdoom forums has often come back to the point that each new addition needs to bring something new to the table gameplay-wise, hence why he haven't seen characters like Strifeguy and the other Build engine heroesyet.

Actually, it seems like the roles do matter. One of the biggest sins the add-ons do, aside from being generally shitty, is that none of them really have their own unique gimmick.
IP Freeley is pretty much infinitely better kaboom-maker than Duke is with all those fucking explosions, so there's no reason to play as Duke. Caleb is ungodly damaging so there's no reason to play as Doomguy. Blake Stone has the same accuracy as BJ does so there's no reason to etc etc etc.

Today I was thinking if Serious Sam could be a possible option, but I remembered that he came from a game where you fight significantly larger hordes of enemies than in Doom, with guns tailored for that purpose. That, and he has a fuckhuge inventory

Actually, he's not completely off on that one - there was discussion over the issue of Zandronum not being able to support more than 7 classes on the new game screen - you can see for yourself by loading up the mod in Zandro and starting up a new singleplayer game, where you'll only see up to the Security Officer. Since there's other ways to select additional classes in Zandro, they let the issue slide, but it was a consideration at one point.

That said, the whole singleplayer tidbit and the "lying and making excuses" parts are total nonsense. Wonder if DKG's taking a new approach here.

All you can do is take my word for it, sorry. I played a few co-op sessions with Terminus in the versions before Marathonguy was included. In one in-game conversation playing Doom 2 co-op (Eviltech wad, if I'm not mistaken), I asked him why the hell the Ehereal Crossbow seemed so weak in comparison to my experience playing Heretic and he replied that it could be either one of two things, that the enemies in Heretic had less HP than in Doom, and/or that the wider dice roll damage values authentic to Heretic made it seem that way and I just kept getting low rolls all the time. He even went ahead and checked the code as I asked him this to make sure that he wasn't off to the vanilla Heretic values.

Those are just my assumptions based on what was being said, they are definitely careless and heavy assumptions but that is what I think nonetheless. It just irks me how the direction of the mod shifted, from my perspective at least, in following its development since pre-Parias up until post-Duke. Of course a modder is entitled to what he does with his work but I just cannot accept the opinion that the mod has never shifted direction.

Slight modifications to weapons (mostly that some shoot slightly faster and do very slightly more damage) and different fractal patterns for enemy projectiles. Also some enemies shoot more frequently and vary in their patterns.
