If you can strafe they can't do anything. Their big brother however is dangerous as hell. You can exploit touching him and running away, but it's not that easy.

The Mad Chasers from Parasite Eve 2

They're people who wanted to be immortal horse things, but the operation got fucked up, so they live forever as some horrible mutant and only laugh when attacked because they look forward to the release. Also in multiple parts of the game you'll find them swinging from overhead by their necks, trying to hang themselves.

More disturbing than necessarily "scary," but good enough I guess.

It's my favorite game that I forgot I loved. I've beaten it around 15 times, and unlocked everything, but this is the first time that I've really played it in probably 6 or 7 years.

Anyway, it's definitely worth sticking with, even though it's very different from the first. You get used to the combat I guess. It's more like a Resident Evil game now, so think of it that way.

Obligatory.

First played Diablo 1 at 10 or something. Opening that door for the first time you already know about the butcher and his cleaver but you don't really know what to expect, you've been fighting skeletons and zombies and fallen ones so far; then this towering red-pinkish figure steps out with a rumbling, hissing voice suggesting it's not him that's the prey but you, and walks towards you FAST AS HELL with a cleaver half your size that takes half your HP away. You run like crazy and occasionally try to hit back, but it's like hitting a brick wall and he can almost stunlock you. To this day, whenever I hear a Diablo 1 door open and that voice exclaiming "HAAAH, FRESH MEAT", I still get a tingle of adrenaline and my heart rate slightly spikes. It left a big impression, they knew how to set a dark atmosphere I tell you that.

This and alot of the enemies from Keen actually got a reaction from me when I was a kid. I think it's because many of them were so fast and since they could insta kill you removing 20+ minutes of hard work and progress. When one of them would come barreling towards you out of nowhere all I could think was "oh shit oh shit oh shit" and you never really could even get a good look at them.

But as far as traditional scared, I never really found video games to be scary.

I found out.

Download DOSBox, and get a copy of the game somewhere (preferably one that forces you to install it first) and drag and drop the installation file onto the DOSBOX icon.

You should go through some rudimentary process of installing the game, and later on you can play it by dragging the .exe onto the program like mentioned.

WHY DID I BUILD MY SPACE PORT SO CLOSE TO THE SOUTHERN MAP BORDER?

You literally cannot stop this enemy, it is a representation of how much time you have left to complete the campaign; the entire campaign gameplay is one giant timed mission. Too slow on one mission can mean death.
