X-treme bros is it finally time?
Could we finally see a release of the new worlds build?

To be honest I don’t think the game got far enough in development for there to be anything substantial to release. Seems like the engine got scrapped and reworked every time the devs started to make progress on the levels.

It oozes awfulness.

I mean the new worlds build is the closet to an actual game there is that we know of.

The betas we have of it are very early, don't think we have anything remotely close to the actual date it was shelved, so there could still be something interesting to show. You're probably right though.

X-treme was already released multiple times.

I want Virtua Fighter 3 Saturn version(s).
But knowing Sega they'll do something retarded like putting up the Sonic 2 Simon Wai proto on steam.

The game got shelved because they only ever had very early versions and never got far enough to make the game a finished product. They don't have any later prototypes.

I can't say whether they have it or they don't but later prototypes do exist, like the PC port STI did some further work on AFTER the Saturn game was canned. They presented it to SEGA and got told to fuck off one last time, nothing from that brief era has ever been seen IIRC.

iirc it was just one guy working on it and he got incredibly sick at that point for several months.

Only prototype getting released is the Golden Axe reboot that looks like shit,

the only thing i wanna see is boss engine gameplay.
so far, we have gameplay samples of just about everything except for that particular iteration of sonic xtreme.
i wish yuji naka wouldve let the dev team continue with the nights engine, but only because i want to see more of that engine, im not so sure if would've saved xtreme because the devs had some fucking retarded ideas and were way out of their depth with such a big project.
y'know, one of those programmers who worked day and night on that garbage is a fugly tranny now...

a couple of tracks from the conceptual OST are among the few good things to come from this disaster

I'd like to see this too

Game looks weird and awkward, but I tend to enjoy games that try something unique

What's always astounded me about X-Treme is the fact that STI were given the gig in the first place, the fucking guys who made Sonic Spinball were suddenly tasked with making the next mainline Sonic game on brand new hardware. No fucking shit it all went wrong, did they even think about it for a second? I know Sonic Team were busy with Nights and sick of the blue rat but goddamn, there were still a ton of active Saturn dev teams that would've pulled it off just fine, Traveller's Tales were right there. The whole project seems like it was an afterthought from the very beginning.

This board has a lot of schizos. From the guy who's brain defaults to homosexuality and pedophilia when he doesn't understand a word, to the guy who has a fucking panic attack about Thief to the point he derails even unrelated stealth threads over it.

Also apparently the dev for that reboot proto worked it under crunch and wasn't told about it.
