I know you're playing along with OP's shitposting but actually, despite Konami always receiving great scores, there's some funny surprises if you look back at actual reviews from the time. SOTN, for example, wasn't the instant-hit everyone think it was. At the time, 2D was old news, and this is something zoomers will NEVER understand.

Ok... my disdain for konami started with this game they released for the snes. Mags back in the day wrote "superior animation", "gorgeous sprite work", "konami delivers another 2D masterpiece" etc etc. The game looked like shit in the screenshots. So i thought, hey maybe its really in the animations, maybe in the gameplay. So i rented that game. Castlevania IV? And it was complete shit. Ludicrous. So i thought hey maybe thats just one game. But the same pattern went on with all the other konami games throughout the 90s. Massive hype > and the games grossly under deliver. Even their arcade games sucked balls. I havent even figured out why people like komani despite all their obvious flaws. Maybe its an nes thing.
