I do remember some kind of official Nintendo mag, but it was basically a bunch of adverts + the lamest 3 year old tips and it's possible I'm imagining this. The only magazine at the time worth getting was Mean Machines, the rest were aimed at older kids. Their review of SMB3 came out a month after the game was released and they certainly didn't do a guide for a while.
