I have never played any of the Shin Megami Tensei games but is this one fun and worth playing? I thought all these games were like a bunch of gay Japanese school kids who talked to demons and made them fight or whatever but this cover art intrigues me and those three humans in the front (main characters I assume?) actually look pretty bad ass.

SMT is special it's nothing like other generic JRPG garbage
but it's not for everyone, give it a try and see if you're like it and don't be shy to use a guide, like many old games you will find yourself lost or confused without a clue to what to do quite often

SMT I and II are both great SNES JRPGs. But imo, the series didn’t start to get phenomenal until 5th Gen, with Soul Hackers and even Persona 2 Duology. If I had to recommend a single game to you from the series to play first above all else. It would either be Persona 3 or Nocturne. Nocturne is not as hard as everyone says it is, and is totally classic Megami Tensei with one of the best and most addicting battle systems in the entire series. P3 is definitely easier imo but still good. But if you just want to play the SNES games. Both SMT I and II are great, and worthy of playing. Just get a guide or walk through online to help you when you get stuck, because you will get stuck at times and be confused as to where to go to proceed.

That was only a marketing tactic used in the west because only Nocturne was any popular before P3 and P4 got big. The covers don't say SMT in Japan.
