All four 16-bit vanias are unique. I like all of them for that reason. Comparing them competitively is disingenuous.
IV - A proper sequel to III, expanding on mechanics and level design.
BL - Limited continues, faster levels and a speedy game in general.
RoB - Very versatile, rich, branched paths and an extra character.
DX - CLASSICVANIA in 16bit, the purest experience

I'm convinced that people that hate on any of these games doesn't actually like Castlevania. All four are premium Konami.

Also, the X68000, I don't know much about. Was it a 16bit PC? I consider it a PC and not a console so I didn't include Akumajou Dracula.
It's awesome as well regardless.
