the sequel Ghouls 'n Ghosts had some really impressive music and sound effects for its time on the C64:

Too difficult, 20 hr marathons work better in easy games like Souls

I always enjoyed the commodore 64 music, even though it was dramatically different from the other console versions

GnG is frustrating for about 3-5 days, mostly because of the Arremers and Ogres. DS will keep you frustrated for a good 3-5 weeks.

20 hours assuming you've already gotten good, learned the bosses and beat it once. The average player takes around 45 hours to finish their first run of Dark Souls.

very unlikely, my friends took around 35-55 and this poll says the same.

Lol no, if you just want to go through the game again after having beaten it you can do it in a few hours over the course of a single sitting. Dark Souls is a very consistent game because of its predictable and mechanically simple nature, once you get good at it, it becomes effortless.

I don't think their difficulty is comparable at all, at least when played normally. Souls games feature constant forward progression. Even if you get hung up on a boss or section, you're killing things and collecting souls and shards as you go along, incrementally upgrading your stats and weapons which raise your strength in relation to what you're fighting until you overcome it by a combination of boosted attributes and pattern memorization. There's never a point where failure results in a game over with a complete reset.

You'd need to reach out of bounds of normal gameplay, something like an SL1-10 no death challenge run for something comparable.

>You'd need to reach out of bounds of normal gameplay
you mean like 1cc for GnG, instead of using continues?

>> No.6929942

>>6929937
Depends what you mean by using continues. If you're relying only on in-game extra lives, it's still not comparable to normal souls play, because you can't exhaust those "extra lives" in dark souls to reach a failure state. If you mean just brute forcing gng by adding credits, then yeah, I suppose that would be comparable.

>> No.6929946

>>6929937
No that'd just be a no tap exploit/no death challenge. 1cc'ing GnG is the equivalent of not using summons in Souls

>> No.6929952

>>6929942
>Depends what you mean by using continues
continues means continues, lmao, the game lets you continue by pushing a button on your controller, or inserting credit at the arcade. That's the default way the game works. 1cc is a personal and community type of challenge people adopt.

That would be feeding credits after a game over.

the game over is conditional on the timer running out and you not using a continue

Classic Castlevania games are much, much more closer to the Demon/Dark Souls games, GnG hardly has anything to do with it..

The game gives you the mark of the bitch if you do that.
The final digit in the score reflects how much you credit feed
