not him but i also prefer 5 because in 6 they added this thing where often your players will do really weak passes in certain instances. i guess they wanted to make it more "realistic" so you couldnt do ping pong 1 touch passes, but it's not actually very realistic at all. it doesnt seem to take the balls momentum into account and it's just annoying and slows things down. it's hard to explain and you wont notice it until you've played a decent amount of pes6, but it's there. i used to play a lot of online and the quirks in the game become more apparent and start to frustrate you over time. they tried to make the game a bit more slower with 6 i think. 6 is still a good game though and the differences are relatively minor

Always thought FIFA was kinda primitive compared to other games from the same era and the isometric camera feels kinda weird to play (don't remember many sports games that actually use it) but it had these wird fun things like being able to score by sitting in front of the keeper to intercept the ball or running away from the ref when getting booked.

every event in this pos game is impossible to place in, but I spent countless hours with it as a kid. Bobsleigh and luge, downhill slalom, and ski jump were fun. Also the only game I know of with curling

I like NHL 2001 for PS1 because it's the first 'chel to have my team in it, pic related.
also I play NHL 2004 for PC because people update it for every season and EA stopped making PC NHL games.
I think people update NHL 94 with current players too.

Megaman soccer comes to mind.
I also remember there was a Captain Tsubasa game with RPG elements, it's weird to realize there aren't many sports games with this idea (menus for actions and stuff).

I hate watching baseball and I don't really like baseball games either, but Triple Play 2001 had this target mode where you try to hit targets in baseball fields and castles. There was even a living room level.

Another notable one was NHL Hitz 2003 on the Gamecube. The franchise mode was pretty deep and the challenges for every game raised the difficulty a bit.

Well sure ISS deluxe is better but OP mentioned it ISS already but Striker has its place and as a by-the-numbers snes football game is far better than it has any right to be. Even just the presentation and music of it all from the start - you can see that they really put a lot of effort into trying to make it good and though the gameplay is a little goofy and won't last forever still great fun for a while.
