No, pirated copies don't count, period. When you purchase a video game, you aren't purchasing ownership of the actual game inside. You are purchasing the right to play that game on the hardware it was designed for. This does make me wonder if it's okay to rip SNES games onto a SNES Classic though...

>> No.6904770

Wait, why the hell are you all talking about multi-cartridge games? The reason why cartridges were small was cost. If you were going to ship a multi-cartridge game, you'd have twice the material cost anyway. You'd just put all the ROM chips in a single cartridge, with a mapper to bank switch them if necessary. The only reason you'd need multiple physical cartridges is if you ran out of physical space inside the cartridge for ROM chips, but I bet you could fit tons in an N64 cart if you sandwiched a bunch of PCBs together.

I think so? The price would definitely be insane, but I'm not an expert on the technology of the time so I don't know how densely you could pack ROM chips inside the cart. Pic related is a 64MB game with what looks like two 32MB chips. I don't know what the largest ROM chips they made were, or how many of them you could squeeze into a cartridge, but I guess if you ran out of space in a regular-sized cart, you could just make a really tall one.

Not an argument you logic vacancy case.

They get paid back then, not now, and if you buy it used it won't matter to them as they're no longer producing and paying stock fees to stores anymore.

The games used to have 'not for resale' on them to try to force some royalties meme your type would cater to and it never took off nor will ever take off.

If society faggot enables that sort of paying royalties bullshit we'll never make new things. We'd be stagnant.

Patents are even worse as they kept things like 3d printers in the 1970s phase due to lobbyist bullshitery.

You just don't know how capitalist corruption ruins things. We could have had 1000+ star wars movies. We could have indie games now at n64 level if not for jewtendo sueing even freely made 16bit tier fanmade games. We could have had mri machines in our bathrooms by now.
