is the sequel, 2econd Coming, anything like the first game in terms of atmosphere and setting? Nobody ever talks about it.

It was unplayable on PCSX2 but I think it was fixed not too long ago, I still didn't play it

Is this worth playing through? I have it for n64 played the first level or two then put it away for... oh about 15 years. Just couldnt get into it.

i mean yeah, it gets more boring like halfway through when you get used to the spooky vibe and don't get as many cool upgrades, but the first 10 hours or so are so fucking good

>> No.6895769

What's the best version? I assume it comes down to Dreamcast vs PC but maybe there are version differences I'm not aware of.

>> No.6895956

>>6895769
very very minor changes, gog version was gucci for me, you get like a second endgame weapon instead a picturebook for collecting everything, maybe like a different bonus cheat shit like that

Probably the remaster I guess, proper widescreen + actual shadows, better particle effects etc.

No, it’s one of the worst games I’ve played, don’t even bother with it
It’s a boring ass collectathon that has nothing going for it

I played it on the Dreamcast with a friend. Normally even bad games are fun with friends but this shit was painfully dull. I think we spent 3 hours or so in some underworld area and running through grey canyons shooting bullet sponge enemies with homing missle-bullets before calling it in. Genuinely don't understand what the appeal is.

All I said was my experience with the game. I gave you the opportunity to say when it gets better, what aspects make the game interesting, what to focus on and what to ignore. Instead you replied like an autistic /v/ermin.

The biggest problem with Shadowman is how spongy the enemies are, but eventually you do get voodoo weapons to kill them faster especially since you can dual wield. Exploring Deadside and seeing what contructions in it was fun, while seeing where your new powers can take you, and the sisters temple of trials are great segments to the game. That along with the lore provided with the serial killer case papers and eventually going to the New York apartments.

If enemies would go down in fewer hits the game would be that much enjoyable, but even as a flawed game I still like it for its theme, atmosphere, the platforming trails, and exploration.

Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, etc.

Not even kidding. Shadowman feels like a BETA version of Metroid if it had ever gone 3D that is, before Prime became a thing. The key points are:

Similarities:
>Non linear progresion.
>Ability to backtrack anywhere in the game.
>New gear unlocks new areas or secrets.
>You get eventual immunity to fire.

Shadowman felt lika very barebones platformer with annoyting shit to collect, like cadeux but the sum of its parts make a nice game, I think. It's biggest flaw in my opinion is locking you out of using bullet-based weapons in hell, which is beyond lame.

The sound design in the PC version is superb, though, I play it for the ASMR experience.

>The biggest problem with Shadowman is how spongy the enemies are

They actually are no bulletsponges. Someone simply had the bright idea to make the enemies invincible during their pain/flinching animation.

I bought it back in the day. I thought MAAAYBE it would have a tiny amount of the kino that the original had. It doesnt. Its so bad. The art design is fuckin trash. They made shadowman a giga-nigga and hes all balooned up. You kill enemies once and they never come back, leaving the generic levels completly empty. Comically bad.

Avoid it like a plague if you are interested in shadow man, unless you want to try it for a laugh any other version is better, PC being the best.

The only other similar game that comes to mind, that is a game with platforming in a 'dark' setting is Soul Reaver 1. I havent played the sequels so I dont know if they are as good as the first.

There is no doubt it feels like what Metriod would be as a 3rd person game.
>>6897247
Regardless it makes each enemy encounter take longer than it should. If people were to make an alteration to that, at least to the standard enemy, then the ability to enjoy the game would increase.

>> No.6898520

It doesn’t play like Metroid at all, the game is a collectathon like Mario with poor controls and terrible gunplay, the “backtracking” is more like banjo kazooies hubworld
