It was terrible.

Ocarina of Time on emulator was my first Zelda, loved it. Then I played Wind Waker on Gamecube, loved it. But Twilight Princess was so disappointing. I played all the way up to the final dungeon and kept telling myself "it's gonna get good soon, it's gonna get good soon, it's gonna get good soon" and it never did. It was so boring, the overworld was dead and lifeless, the dungeons were meh, the characters and story felt half assed. It's just one of those games you can only describe as "shit". It does nothing good, it does nothing right. I stopped playing it at the final dungeon and never once regretted it or felt like replaying it.

Yes. It's because it's the only true successor to Ocarina of Time. Marjora's Mask was more like a standalone expansion pack. Same engine, same graphics, same overall mechanics, just with some extra gimmicks and content. Wind Waker was the beginning of nu-Zelda and its success was responsible for the eventual ruination of the franchise. Twilight Princess was the last hurrah. One last attempt at a true next-generation successor to Ocarina of Time before they ran the franchise straight into the ground by catering to zoomers. It's not perfect for sure, but it's a final glimpse at the direction the franchise could have and should have gone. The moment they cancelled vid related and made BOTW instead is the definitive moment the franchise truly and indelibly died forever. I doubt Nintendo will ever make an OOT-like Zelda ever again after what a success it was.

I like to think of myself as a unique individual, and my momma agrees.
The worst part only lasts two minutes tops, less if you're good, it is the beaver bother minigame with goats from dk64. The rest of the few hours is spent setting up the world building, why you should care about everything, and introducing you to the main gimmick the wolf; which again I really like, it combines several pieces of equipment together into the most useful transformation in the franchise.

Terrible pacing. The beginning is the worst part but there are other parts as well, like all the bullshit you have to do between Temple of Time and City in the Sky. This is one of the few games where "It gets good after X hours" is actually true and not just a cope.

The tutorial is fucking terrible and drags on and on. The first dungeon is easily the worst and most underwhelming in the game. In fact, really the only good part in the first 5 hours or so is the part where you get teleported to Twilight Hyrule Castle. I suppose the hunt for the twilight bugs is alright, but even that is the worst twilight bug hunt in the game.

It's not completely terrible per say, but basically every aspect of the first 5 hours is weaker than what comes afterwords. The game really doesn't make a great first impression. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the people who say it's a bad game got filtered in the first 5 hours.

The game gives you plenty of rupees already. It's not like you were exactly hurting for cash in the original.

Which wasn't in the original so you can safely ignore it. And if you really need to play it for some reason then just buy a bulk pack of NFC tags for 10 bucks and use your phone to encode them with the code. Or just emulate the NFC code for free in CEMU.

The sections of the overworld and sectioned off so poorly that it feels like bunch of small isolated areas instead of one large overworld, and specific places are very blatantly designed for scripted events which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that the game forces you to go through those scripted events BEFORE you get to freely explore that area, so by the time you do get to freely explore that whole place is completely useless except for finding a bug or a 1/5th heart.

Way too many paths in the game are blocked off by little sidequest puzzles which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that warping is usually much faster and easier even if the path is already unlocked.

In OoT, you could explore Gerudo Desert, Lake Hylia early and it's rewarding because you get to see these areas a little early and get some foreshadowing.
In twilight princess, they drag you along a mandatory even, hunting the bugs that gives you a long tour of the area, and then another mandatory even fighting enemies on horseback, and THEN you get to explore the area of the game, even though it's no longer relevent now and you have nothing to look forward to from it. THAT'S what makes it feel so empty.
