>YOU DONT NEED TO PLAY ANY
Lol you literally need to play every single MG in existence to even attempt to appreciate V. Get into the series, here how it is as a huge stealth fan.
>MGS1, Absolutely incredible under the context of the year it released, stealth is a joke, its glorified packman, some awful camera placement with some bad controls that play off the camera(its that weird tank control where the camera angle, and where you should go make 0 sense) but even with its janky gameplay, its story(bmovie tier) and atmosphere are top tier.
>MGS2: One of two games id consider a masterpiece given everything it does, the context its built under, its tech, the literal massive improvement over MGS1 gameplay, and an actual post-modern video game and can only work in a video game. Was literally going to be Kojimas final MGS and it was his swan song.
>MGS3: A direct apology to fans from MGS2 because they cant into something deep, instead MGS3 is a shockly B-Movie except its literally a 10/10 in that regard. This is when the series becomes stealth for the first time. I dont think any game has put a smile on me from start to finish like MGS3 is. Every character, moment, cutscene, everything is fucking enjoyable. This is usually regarded the best.
>MGS4: A depressed and probably suicidal artists cry for help, its a massive "Oh you want mroe snake? You want the future to go past MGS2? FUCKING HERE" Only to be stuck in a depressing dystopian hellhole, and I dont mean Chapter 3. Snake is a shell, like Kojima was making this.
>Portal ops: lol
>MGS:PW: Kojima wanted this to be MGS5 and it shows, while its gameplay isnt stealth as it is arcadey stealth, the amount of content and robust story telling in this is insane, due to tech limitations most story is optional tapes but theres hours of great writing and characters. Konami said no mainline on handheld.
MGS:GZ(TPP Prequel): 9/10 literally.
MGS:TPP: Its missing an entire chapter, bad gameplay, pointless open world
