What's the big obsession with speakers? For video games, isn't the tv speaker enough? I mean why do you need it so loud? It doesn't make sense. Is it bass you want instead? I get it if it was actual music.

Eh, that speaker elitist who always posts in battlestation threads got to me. Family member gave me some old computer speakers he didn’t need anymore, so I put them there just to see what that elitist was talking about, and it actually made a noticeable difference. Plus, my crt only has one audio channel, with the speaker facing directly down into the table, for some retarded reason.

No, the real question is how are people so tonedeaf that having a good stereo with reasonably sized speakers went out of fashion? Today people settle for built in speakers that sound like shit. The actual speaker cone needs to be a minimum size in a solid enclosure to sound good.
And you're right that older games don't really need HiFi to appreciate the beeps and boops, but it doesn't hurt as long as it's not loud. Ear fatigue can be avoided with low volume.

If it’s a place that has been around for 50+ years in the same spot, it’s highly likely they have decent funding and enough space to store them. More or less, you could simply call, ask if they have anything, if they forward you to someone else, do it, and if they end up not having anything, on to the next one. I just came back from picking it up. I has a few signs of old age, but one can't even notice them because it's matte black. It's a lovely little thing. I had forgotten about the hiss, and I don't do well with high pitch noises, but I might get used to it. I'm using a Wii to emulate and it so good it's unbelievable. It even does the image flicker when going to the game/menu does to the change between progressive and interlaced. And of course I set the emulator to 60HZ.
>>6879193
>but it will do for now I guess
My thoughts exactly. I've been getting intro retro stuff for the past months and I'm 27yo, and I think it's important to learn from things from the past in order to understand the ones from the present/future. Plus, I was emulating on the Switch using shaders, but for some reason it's not the same. Perhaps the CRT reminds me of my childhood.
>What's wrong? That's the only widespread consumer standard port that takes RGB.
I keep seeing that component is better than composite, and that's why I bought them for the PS2 and Wii to use on my LCD. Shouldn't make much difference in a 14'', but still.

Of course it requires it, there's no way Wii will just go and play 720p/1080p BDRip.

I wonder about this too. I'm illiterate in regards to sound but I remember growing up even average people generally spent a lot of money on speakers and sound. Now it's rare to even see speakers in someones home. Maybe a big reason is the death of the 2nd hand market? idk

>Wii is from Portugal and CRT from England
There's no "Portugese Wii" or anything of the sort. Mostly people in the UK seems to think there are UK versions of consoles. There's NTSC-J, NTSC-U and PAL usually. A lot of consoles also had Korean versions but these are nearly always the same as the Japanese version in everything but branding. Samsung distributed Sega's consoles in Korea under their own name for example.
>CRT seems to handle both 50HZ and 60HZ too.
I haven't found a single TV that didn't handle 60hz. Most of the ones that don't are from the 70s or earlier. I do have a set that doesn't take NTSC colour, but everything but the Famicom is RGB anyway.

Another reason being that while component/S-video cables and switches aren't expensive by themselves they add up over time if you have a lot of hardware, and it's just trouble to keep up and hardmod everything to support those formats. SCART/VGA isn't commonplace on consumer grade CRT's here in burgerland either.

Not out of the box due to BIOS differences. Works fine when booted from an appropriately designed flashcart, though.

Allows for multiplayer without having to cram everybody in front of the central monitor. The central PVM already weighs 120 pounds, and a meaningful size upgrade would both be too large and too heavy for the furniture.
