Uniornically agree, 7 is actually my favorite of the classic MM games. I know it's unpopular since most people would prefer some of the NES games (especially 2 or 3), but while I love those games too, 7 still ends up being my favorite, love the creative and interactive level design, love the boss fights, and love the exploration aspect (that doesn't even really come in your way, you can still play it as a straight action MM game, but if you want to explore, you also can, and the game has some clever secrets hidden in it).
Also most badass Wily fight in the series.

I personally prefer 3, but 7 is no slouch. I enjoy 7 more than 5 and 6 at any rate, and I still think both of those games are good.

The GB games have the same guy of aspect ratio and character sizes and don't suffer from it as much as MM7 so there is no excuse

It's a shame the game was made in just 3 months because it really shows at time.
Shade Man stage is probably the prime example of that since 75% of the stage is unfinished.

Otherwise yes it's a great game, better than 5 and 6. 7 was made by an A team, not a B team like the previous ones, so even with its shortcomings, it's still great

The beta version hints at a big monster that would have appeared during the first scroll. That makes total sense considering the first scroll is a joke: you can just keep running because the zombies take so long to spawn they're not a threat at all

Also, the entire end of the stage was left without enemies despite the beta version having placeholder enemies there. Who knows what they had planned, they're obviously placeholders, probably some new enemies that didn't make it.

Gameplay in most of the stage is pretty bad minus the 2 mini bosses and the werewolves are okay.
