Is this the definitive way to play Metal Slug on home consoles?

>> No.6861854

If I remember correctly the PS2 version had some extra load times compared to the Wii version (which had Classic and GameCube controller support)

>> No.6861856

Can PS2 even output 240p? If it's 480p or 480i it's not the definitive way.

Absolutely not, the actual japanese console ports have extras like combat school, fat island, another mission, storm the mothership, super devil, pinpoint attack, score ranks, gallery etc etc
Also the ports don't lag and have more sensible continue/credit systems.

yes, dunno if this game outputs 240p tho

In Metal Slug 7 DS you can actually flirt with your moemoe tsundere instructor.

PS2 absolutely can output 240p... but this compilation is 480i. It can however be patched to run in 240p.

MS3 Xbox is the definitive port. Don't know about the rest.

What happens if you run a ps2 with composite? Wouldn't it just run in 240p then?

Doesn't it force you to repeat the whole level when you lose all lives unlike the PS2 Metal Slug 3 port?

As far as i’m aware every version of ms anthology has terrible input latency. Would love to be proven wrong though

The individual PS2 ones?
I haven't booted these up yet because my toaster can't handle a PS2 emulator.

Can confirm the ps2 version (and by extension, the PS4 version on the Sony Store) have massive input lag.

>> No.6868981

What's the answer if we broaden the scope to emulators? Is MAME (or some Neo Geo-specific emulator like Nebula) a better experience than the available console ports, or am I better off playing the PS2 or Wii versions?

I've been playing the Steam versions and the built in online (this was before Steam's online play feature) is great, I get lesser latency than when using Mame: the latency is almost non existent with my friend who lives 3000 kilometers away

Only issue is I got
