Just beat it for the first time today without cheating or adding credits. Really fucking fun and satisfying, beat the first gradius on NES a few days ago too.

SNES is a gimped port with more slowdowns and less content. Arcade version is flawed but good, though I prefer Fukkatsu and 2 over it.

I want to love the game but it's honestly too hard for me. I either set it to Easy or Very Easy or just as well play Gradius 1 or 2.

I feel like Easy gives the game the right amount of difficulty; with some practice I could get to the final stage on the ps2 port. On defaults I almost never beat stage 3. I feel like weird janky hitboxes are part of it. Those Big Core Lasers feel so bullshit.
