What is your preferred way of playing the series?

I prefer GameCube for all of them except for Code Veronica (I choose vanilla Dreamcast because of the graphics, VMU, and don't care for the added content), and since OG RE1 isn't on GC, I usually go with PS1 Director's Cut (non-Dual Shock).

You can play X on Dreamcast.

Anyways, I play 1 on Saturn, and 2, 3 and CVX on Dreamcast.

1 on Saturn for the exclusive Extreme Battle mode and the rest on the playstation consoles. They luckily have everything.

Code Veronice has a infinite bug that's not included on the dreamcast, which is why i would avoid that version.

Resident Evil 2 has all of it's newer versions on the psone with the extreme battle (imo the best RE mode right after Raid Mode), so no worries there.

I'm kinda sad about RE3 never getting the love the others did. It's my favorite one among them and it kinda sucks it never got anything additionally outside of the mercenaries mode (which is also pretty cool). The costume fiasco on every console version is also not doing it any favor.

All of them on PS1, with the first game going on non-dualshock Director's Cut and the second on the dual-shock. And then I roll Code Veronica on Dreamcast.

There is a patch for RE3 sourcenext? I can't find it on his website. Last I heard he was "considering it" after Dino Crisis.

Disgusting. You lose the dark, murky look for overexposed, oversaturated blown out lighting. Not to mention the fmvs fucking dip in framerate at random moments.

CVX, unlike the PS2 version, has an actually present lighting mechanic.

Nowadays I favor the originals in a psx emulator. Back then, I remember playing 3 on the dreamcast and noticed the graphics were smoother and all that, it had mercenaries mode unlocked by default and some other extras. Never played CV outside the DC, since it was the last console I had before switching to PC. But from what I seem of the "extras" on the internet, they were detrimental to the original.

It looks identical to the original Dreamcast release. The only real difference is Steve's hair. Code: Veronica Kanzenban for the Dremacast does contain all of the CVX extras. It was never released outside of Japan. But there are fan translations.

Whoops. I thought GDEmu was an emulator. But you are talking about the flash drive mod for the real DC hardware. That's a shame. But even un-translated. The game still has the English voice overs and is not hard to navigate the Japanese text.

I noticed that "X" on the Japanese Dreamcast can also read/ continue from the regular game as well. There is an option to load from the original game data instead of the X data.
