Hit & Run is the shitty GTA sandbox game. As someone who put probably 200+ hours into this game as a kid, I'm especially qualified to tell you that it is a fucking stinker of the highest order

It's really not though. It's an extremely shallow sandbox game but as a Simpsons game it's good and is packed with proper references to the show. The only real game which comes close is The Simpsons Arcade.
Pretty much all the others ranged from alright to flat-out bad (even at the time).

Hit & Run is a great game, if you only play through casually. Great lines, lots of references, really brings the Simpsons world alive. You can even explore their backyard. If you try to 100% it, the sloppy controls, poor hit detection, and completely fucked physics will make you rage. Half of the time when you succeed on making the flawless run needed to beat a sidemission/race/whateverthefuck, you'll feel like you just got lucky you didn't bounce backwards off of another car. And movement on foot is even worse. Walking/running in GTA3/VC/SA is slow but it works and you can move where you want to. Walking or running in Hit & Run is a struggle to get your character to face the direction you want, and actually move and jump in the directions you want. Oh, and the camera hates you on foot. Nothing like making a jump just to have the camera shift halfway through just to fuck you.

A few months more polish, and this would have been considered 10/10.
