Sega also wasn't exactly a video game company, they were initially a transport company that carried pinballs. Related to mechanical games, but not really developers.
It was later on that both companies eventually started doing video games, by the times we're talking about (80s, 90s) they were already video game companies only.
Sony was and still is a multi corpo.
Also the yakuza are everywhere, they're also in Sega and Sony, not really an argument.
