Gave my buddy my lime green game boy color with a few games. He moved away a few years later.
Gave my PS2 controller and a bunch of games for it to a friend. Still has them but I dont have any motivation to play PS2. A few of those games I stole from my fat cousin who was a dweeb even by 4chan standards. You know, those kids who throw a tantrum and yell like children during CS matches. Felt i deserved his games since i gave up a portion of my life entertaining this sad excuse of a life

Borrowed Silent Hill from a friend and lent him Rez in return.
When I came back for Rez I offered to return Silent Hill even though I hadn't finished it yet, but he declined. I offered to return it again at a later time, but he was disinterested and has never brought it up since. He's the type that went all serious as soon as he graduated college and got himself a girlfriend and probably thinks he's grown out of video gaming. I think a lot of times it just ends up you borrow something, and since they never ask for it back, you just end up keeping it, usually unintentionally. Hell, my friend lives next door to me and still has my copy of Goldeneye 64, but I haven't talked to him in years and I just never bothered to ask for it back. A lot of times in childhood it wasn't "hey I see this guy all the time but I am intentionally not telling him I have his game still"

It was transience. You and a friend would borrow each others' games, then one of you would move away.

Happened to me. My copy of FF6 was borrowed from a friend. And either I loaned him Kirby Super Star and he loaned me Earthbound, or the other way around, then he moved to Hawaii and made the trade permanent...

Don't remember which ones I ended up with because then later I gave my SNES and all my games to my cousin, because she'd always want to come play them and I had my n64 by then and didn't want her bugging me all the time....talk about regret

Not from people or friends, but I have a copy of Gex 64 lying around that I rented when we rented like 2 movies at the same time. They forgot to charge us for it, so we just got it for free basically, and they never once called or asked us or charged us a late fee. Sadly that Hollywood Video has long since closed and is now a Family Dollar or some shit, with a disgusting Family Video across the street.

I also have a copy of Winback: Covert Operations on the N64 that I rented from a local chain called Circus Video. The owner got busted for drugs or some shit, so all 2-3 stores closed and either liquidated or threw away their shit. I just happened to rent it like the day before this all happened, so free game.

Too bad I fucked it up with a Gameshark

I don't think I've ever borrowed or loaned out a game to anyone, save for a brief stint of swapping Pokemon Blue carts with a kid in class in elementary school. We swapped back shortly afterwards though because I missed my team. Luckily he didn't fuck anything up, and neither did I.
