I can see why they would call it "All Stars"
Every single game in this compilation shines so bright.

its actually "Super Mario Collection", dumb westerns need fancy names like "mario madness" or "all star" to sell games.

Indeed. Can you believe EOPs still call Super Mario USA "Mario Madness"?

I was irritated that it didn't contain the original Mario Bros game.

I wrote a letter to Nintendo about that, they were like "that's not a SUPER Mario game lol!"

Fucking bastards

They had a point. But I think you had a better one.

He's still a super guy even if the game's title doesn't have "super" in it. The game should be in the collection.

It gets hate because people are unwilling to accept that a remake can actually be good. Sure, I agree that SMB1 and Lost levels physics were less than ideal, but the games at their core are still good.

Original looks pretty minimal and bare, almost like a placeholder ending. I prefer all-stars version. More colorful and captures the joy and excitement of the game.

It never even occurred to me when I was a kid playing Mario 2 that "Mario Madness" might be intended as anything but an arbitrary caption saying something like "this game has a lot of Mario stuff in it". I never took that as a title for the game. I think that maybe you people who push the idea that it was even supposed to be a title are stupid and insane. It could be healthy for you to consider that possibility.

>> No.6763792

>>6763758

Ideally they would have remade the original scenes in a way that retained the original concept, while also adding a little more character to those simple and sparse images. Although I disagree that the change is important enough to seriously damage the value of the game, I agree with the spirit of that image, which is that something significant was lost.

>>6763778

I'm not sure what the point of this is. They changed the animals, and stuck in some playful but mostly meaningless references to other Mario games. Is that supposed to be bad? Or good? It barely changes anything.

>> No.6764314

>>6763213
Nope, that was more than 25 years ago.

Sometimes I wish I saved it, but then I think I would just throw it out now. It wasn't anything special. Typed up response with a Nintendo letterhead.

>> No.6764331

Fun fact: This was intended to be a Snes CD game early in development. I wonder if they dug anything else out of the leaked source?

the original ones hardly represent the worlds they're in. why is big bertha being shown off for world 4 and why the tanooki suit for world 5? all stars at least shows relevant content

>> No.6764410

Because it's just the Raccoon Leaf with an added trick and Raccoon Mario already has (I think) two worlds showing it off already.

>> No.6764419

>>6764410
its just weird that you'd make credits with world-specific sprites and then not make those sprites relevant to the worlds
