Those are easy to 1CC, speedrunning and scoring is what you should attempt with those. Sadly scoring in 2 kinda sucks since Duo gives a much higher score than the others, but of course you consider each character his own category and keep a savestate of the scores for each one.

Castlevania IV

Recently got the 1cc for Streets of Rage. I'm really close for MUSHA which is relatively easy for a shmup, but I keep losing a life really late in the game and it's tough to recover all the powerups.

Castlevania IV I'm at that part in the library with the stairs. Gotta memorize how to jump down them but I've been lazy. Deaths feel so infuriating in that game for some reason. Just the way you bounce back so far when getting hit feels super punishing sometimes.

I love arcade games but I tend to want to play a lot of them at one time, just like when I was a kid. so I tried to beat them on a dollar or two like if I was young and that was all I had to spend on it that day. it's a challenge, but seeing as how I love beat em ups, I get bored after a while trying to 1cc them. they're designed for eating your quarters anyways so I learned to just play them and try to beat it on a limited number of continues.

Gradius 2, but the game has broken me. I can't do it. I've gotten as far as the final stage on 1 credit. I honestly do not know how you guys 1cc this title, because it literally feels like I'm bashing my skull against reinforced concrete. I've done everything they've adviced. Practicing with savestates, practicing on recovery.

I'm convinced people showing these playthroughs on youtube are either cheating (I.E splicing footage to make it appear as if they aren't using savestates) or they're super autists.

Best I've done was 1cc Gradius 1 on NES and arcade.

I can only 1cc 4 up until about level 3 or 4. I feel terrible about it because it's supposed to be one of the easier Castlevanias. I can play Rebirth pretty far on one credit, but only with maxed lives.

But yeah, the library has some pretty tough platforming spots. Personally I think the previous stage is harder though. Enemies come at you in droves.

The previous Castlevanias are worse in that regard. You've got much less control in them, and stair detection seems worse. I like 4 because it sort of irons out some of the kinks from the oldee titles. But yeah, deaths can still be infuriating. Fuck the knockback physics.
