Taking the difficult first steps of the franchise into the 3rd dimension, a technical achievement at the time in regards of the hardware it was on. Although crude by standards of the later games, it enjoys tremendous fan admiration by those who grew up with it and often taking a honorary place atop many a Zelda fans list.

It's really not that bad.
It plays just like RE but even slower, which I suppose is an anathema to the modern gaymer crowd since people born after 1999 seem to be unable to appreciate or use tank controls.

No life meter. Items. The players don't kill each other, the maps kill them, or ring out. Controls aren’t very precise. It might not be a fighter ,but it sure is fun.

That's my issue with RE1. Everything is great, but nothing makes sense: you are in a house with puzzles for the player to solve. At least in AitD the story was linked to the puzzles.
