Is it normal for the D-pad's plastic to be loose and jiggle when you lightly rub it?

Is it also normal for you to accidentally press Right or Left sometimes when trying to hit down because the plastic isn't centered firmly enough?

Sounds normal to me, but I guess it's possible you have an unusually loose one... I find the Genesis dpad a little imprecise personally, I prefer a plain cross
