Retro? I do a single sitting of Tomb Raider 3 around my birthday, given or taken a week.
I'm also playing either Pharaoh or Emperor: RotMK in early June, especially if it's raining. If it's Emperor, I manage to finish it before losing interest. I never managed to truly finish Pharaoh, always just playing this or that campaign, but never on single save state.

I always make sure to smash my way through Streets of Rage 2 after NY. Its been the first game I've played each year, every year since the 90s. Probably cos I got it for Xmas back in 96 (poor family, was quite far behind).

a lot of the expansion is shit, lazy and pretty boring but the classic build engine environments with the snow and christmas music create a god tier atmosphere. i'd be pretty pissed if i got it for christmas but the fucking environment is something of it's own

I.MO anything longer than about an hour gets repetitive after 3-4 years if you do it every single year. This includes movies.
I guess I try to play through several games in a single series every summer, though (Megaman, Castlevania etc)
