Currently, Mupen64plus because its the only one that works on lenus, except I have to use Project64 with Wine for Densha De Go! Can't get the english patched version to run on anything else.
>GAME
Currently, GoldenEye. Not very original, but it's just a great multiplayer game. Also playing a lot of MicroMachines 64, which only seems to work in Mupen64Plus git with arachnoid graphics plugin.

Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire
I was saving up to buy a launch N64 in the UK, but I didn't have enough money yet. My cousin brought his over with this game, plus Turok.

The Hoth level still plays pretty well, I think.

Are you running a flash cart, or original?

Mario Kart 64, which was also both my first 3D game and first console game. Blew my fucking mind, and I still remember trying to pull the board out of the cartridge.

I don't much care for the Nogames 64.

I guess a Jap N64 is the cheapest way to get going with real hardware?

>> No.6737097

>>6737086
Indeed and with the N64DD expansion kit you can even make your own tracks and vehicles. The vehicle creation is kind of limited but the track tool is the same one used to make the actual tracks in the game and as a result is extremely robust and fun to mess around with. The kit also makes the music stereo and can be played on real hardware in English with a flash cart and without the N64DD itself.
>>6737091
Yes. That + a flash cart is the best way to play N64 games. Oh and a controller that has a non loose control stick.

Tell me about flash carts. Should I cough up for an Everdrive, or are the Chinese knockoffs just as good?

No, just buy a NA N64 and an everdrive. Buy an N64 with the expansion ram included or expect to spend another $25. With the expansion ram you can also play 64DD games. F-Zero is great on the DD.

I was a doubter until I got it, but I think it's worth the money because:
1. The build quality is solid
2. I know it's not going to screw up my n64 with improper voltage
3. Load times are super fast
4. Other flashcarts require you to hold down the 'reset' button in order to save to the SD card, but the X7 does it automatically
