Are there any other retro games with similar quick bite levels like this? I just got a PocketGo and I need something that lasts just a few minutes here or there.

Super Mario 3 Bros, but you need to play it on The Complete Super Mario Bros 4 in 1 Game Pak for the save feature, it’s absent on the Nintendo NES version.

On that note, the Pacman Championship DX for NES is probably a good choice.

Seconding this. It’s the, dare I say it, quintessential 90-second hop'n'bop experience.

is that the collection with Mario Madness, the quintessential scotformer?

The Gameboy game where you push the blocks. Can never remember the name because my mind always associates it with Klax, for some reason.

I had this game on my Game Boy multicart, was a lot of fun honestly

The one and only, my good man. That said, now that the dust has settled, I think that Link It Up! on the Wide Color Screen 32-Bit Advance provides the, dare I say it, quintessential Mario Madness experience.

Playing this when it came out was such a personal gaming high of my childhood. Deserves to be recognized as one of the best platformers ever. Being on the Game Boy and the "one-screen" idiom will probably keep it from that, but its controls are among the best-feeling of any 2D platformer. And Mario's moveset was fucking electrifying at the time. It occurs to me now that some of 3D Mario's canonical moves like the side-flip originated in this game.

Not retro but I'd just recommend N as an excellent "one-screen" platformer although everyone probably already knows it

It is one of the best platformers ever. Mario vs donkey Kong on GBA is almost as good, great sequel. I wouldn't recommend the Mario vs donkey longs after the first one, unless you like lemmings clones

Good topic, would like to see more recommendations.

I’ll add Devil Dice’s puzzle mode, although each level might be too hard for just a couple minutes.

I also like this, despite it being a pretty average game. (known as The Real Ghostbusters in NA)
