Why do N64 fans prop up Body Harvest as some masterpiece? It’s extremely clunky and has a mostly empty open world and looks bad

Yeah it's pretty shit.
People say it's some gta precursor but I'm not seeing it.

I can see it but that doesn’t mean it is good

Examples of N64 fans saying it's a master piece? Use the archive if you must.

As far as I'm aware it's mostly known as a quirky, "cult classic" game that's kind of like a prototype for a certain trilogy of games the same studio put out after the /vr/ cutoff and spawned a very popular franchise/genre in contemporary gaming.

I have literally never seen anyone describe this game as anything greater than alright.

It's no masterpiece but it was definitely ahead of its time in a lot of ways. It did a lot of things that became very standard later in the industry. It was one of the earliest 3D open-world games with lots of vehicles and was a precurser to GTA3. The dev that made Body Harvest went on to become Rockstar. So by today's standard there's nothing really special about it, but at the time it came out there weren't many games anything like it out there (at least not that I know of).

I actually liked how the aliens had different roles. You had the rammer ones breaking buildings so that the collector can get to the humans. Body Harvest seems like a game that could really be expanded upon with a modern release.
