Why do shmupfags act superior to fans of platformers, fighting games and even the dreaded jarpig in spite of this?
Furthermore, why do coomlectors blow at least 100 on every generic 5th-gen/DC shmup, especially considering the best game in the genre (Touhou) is absolutely free?

What's wrong with that, as long as you aren't using savestates in real runs? You'll just take longer to master the game, because you'll waste more time having to get back to the spots you're actually having difficulty with each time.

Let's just take a look at this comparison. You had to take a game from 1983 and compare it to a game from 2005 in order to even mildly compete against it, and they still look like the same fucking game, except one has a bunch of gay anime shit thrown in for good measure. Holy fuck.

Meanwhile, Diddy Kong Racing and Gran Turismo came out the same year. Thank you for proving my point that SCHMUP's are insipid casual shit.

>Walk at any badguy diagonally
>Attack them
>Stop attacking if enemies gather around me
>Attack them
>Win
Bossfight:
>Walk at Boss diagonally
>Attack until they fall over
>Back off because they usually have a wake up attack

But on a purely gameplay basis, JRPGs and most genres are much more diverse than most shmups. Just look at all the different subgenres of JRPGs. Besides the traditional kind, you have action RPGs, strategy RPGs, card-based, monster-collecting, blends of several, and that's just to name a few. Some are linear and some have multiple endings. Some have pre-defined characters and some are supposed to be player self-inserts.
Meanwhile, what's the amount of variation in shmups? Some go vertically, others side-to-side and some into the screen, and some have more bullets to dodge than others, and that's basically it.

thing is, what do you even consider a shmup? when confronted with shmups of different styles some people would just not consider them one. the easiest example are euroshmups, some more hardcore group would just exclude them into the definition. SWIV is definitely a shmup, but what about SWIV 3D? then you have something like Seek and Destroy (the 1993 PC game), and even so far as Terminal Velocity, are they even still shmups? sometimes it feels like the definition are actually deliberately confined to a certain playstyle.

Fact is you were wrong and no amount of cope is going to change that. I'm not even the dude you were arguing with dingus. Just some random guy who saw someone bullshitting and called it. The guy you were cherry picking for and tipping your fedora to is probably just sitting back and laughing while you make an ass if yourself without him even having to lift a finger.

Yeah, that's literally what you're doing. Nearly every shmup is largely about dodging bullets. Yet you pick one game and then, wrongfully, retardedly, claim that you collect bullets instead of avoiding them. Then you spend the rest of the day copeposting because you can't just accept that you said something stupid and wrong. So keep the cope and strawmen coming. The power of autism compels you.

That's literally what you do in that game though. If you're a god at it you dont really haver to dodge much at all because you're shfting light-dark all the time. What is your malfunction?

IMO they're polar opposites. JRPGs are the slowest games I've ever played, hands down (outside of cashgrabs like MMOs and F2P games of course), and shmups are extremely fast-paced games. quick to get into, difficult to master. Whereas you've mastered a JRPG's mechanics mere minutes into playing it, you just have to grind for 100 more hours to beat it.

This. If you want to play a game for score that actually takes skill and not just copy monkey memorization, play IIDX. But even then you need to keep in mind you won't be able to compete with the top players who are Japanese and Korean.

Im afraid only the easy ones. Caldarius Blaze, Burunyan-man (shmup with 30minute long sex scenes after a fight), Akai Katana. Otomedus Excellent I have 1cc'd.

Currently working my way through Mushihimesama in some probably failed attempt to 1cc it. On i side note, i found Einhander to be dull. I dont know if its only the first couple of stages, but its dark as fuck, muddy colors and there is almost no music until you get to the boss. I dont know what everyone was smoking when they played that game.
