For me, it's Silent Hill 3. It's not my favorite SH game, but it's still incredible. The game almost feels like a time capsule. Something about the soundtrack and the urban setting just scream early 00s to me.

It's also pretty fucking spooky. I'm 19, and it still made me jump a couple of times. The game does a great job at keeping you on the edge.

The entire 5th gen and Dreamcast weren't initially considered for being 3D majority consoles. As soon as 5th gen was allowed, that already started a precedent that 3D can be retro if they're old enough, at the time it was just using the "1999" cut-off date as a reason for why 3D gaming should be considered retro.
Once that happened it was only a matter of time until the DC would be allowed on the basis that it's a 3D console that was older than many retro consoles were when they were considered retro. The fact it was released in 1999 was a lucky coincidence since clearly moot or mods didn't have any intention of including the DC when that 1999 rule was made.

So actually it's not different, the allowance for 3D consoles was reasonable considering they predated the "1999" cut-off date and that opened the way for the DC being allowed and with the DC being allowed "with the release of the 8th generation" means that the 1999 rule isn't just arbitrary, it's also meaningless now that the DC needed to be quantified with it's "two generation prior to current gen/15 years old is retro" justification

The 1999 rule has been superseded now, it's obsolete, it should be changed and we can stop having multiple troll threads going where people are either flooding GBA in protest and smug dickheads making shitposts mocking "zoomies". If 6th gen gets allowed, I'd say they're would be fewer 6th gen posts than shitposts now.

The argument for it is that as time goes forward new things become old and old things become classic. We need to bring in 6th gen so we can get rid of 3rd gen and back and create /cvr/ - classic retro games.

Retro is like the classic era of movies or classic rock. No matter how much time passes classic rock will never include nirvana nor will Godfather be including in the classic age of movies. It's not "painfully obvious" at all. Allowing this, and other non-retro consoles to be considered retro would open up the way to the PS3, PS4, and eventually PS5 to be considered retro at some point (hopefully I won't be here then).
The 19XX rule is better: no new console shall be added, and every 20XX console can be discussed on /v/.

The PSP remaster was pretty good. I was surprised at how it was completely voice acted, every single line of dialogue is voiced. The gameplay is kinda DnD-esque, too, with how the traps and environment interaction work.

I hated the level-up system though. You have to use weapons to level up, but weapons are limited-use, and you have an inventory of only 20 items. So you're stuck hoarding weapons until you encounter an enemy that's worth using them on.

Conker Live & Reloaded is closer to an Xbox 360 game than it is to Conker's Bad Fur Day, despite sitting in the generation between both. Everything before 2000 is a clear and easy to understand cutoff point. Allowing the Dreamcast because it was released in 1998 makes sense, especially when it's close graphically to the N64 than it is to the GameCube. GameCube, PS2, and Xbox are painfully not retro. You can kind of make a case for the GBA because of the SNES ports, but why not just talk about the SNES originals at that point?
