Let's talk about this port of Chrono Trigger. Is it the definitive edition of Chrono Trigger, or is it stuffed with filler garbage like the bonus dungeons?

Yes it is the definitive version of Chrono Trigger. What I especially like about it is that the battle commands are on another screen so that you can see more of the game world. In the original, the command boxes take up a big chunk of the screen.

Reminder that ports are allowed, but right now due to the spamming by GBAutist this is likely a troll thread intended to make people mad because it's a picture of a Nintendo DS game.
Also reminder that people have been begging for 6th gen to be allowed for at least 7 years, and GBA/PS2 is still not allowed and never will be.

Maybe next year ;^)

Definitive, and the bonus dungeons can be completely ignored (and honestly I wont blame you if you do, Square has never done good bonus dungeons in their ports)

I'll give the FFV port a bit of credit for giving a canon appearance of Enuo after all this time

>Dreamcast released in 1998
>Ps2, GBA 2000
>GC, Xbox 2001
>Dreamcast allowed on /vr/ in 2014
>mfw 2016 come and gone without PS2 and GBA being allowed
>mfw 2017 come and gone without GC, XBox allowed
>mfw Dreamcast was never specifically added because it became old enough but because instead of trying to define each console individually as retro, moderation just simplified the rule to make it a hard stance against hardware released post Y2K
>mfw 6th gen toddlers forever BTFO and their consoles will never be old enough

>> No.6702025

I think the single greatest argument for never making 6th gen retro is because this will infuriate the GBA spammer and ensure he will give us hilarious autistic screechfests for all eternity.

dreamcast became retro because its trash and wouldnt warrant too many threads like PS2/GC/GBA.

Port threads are cancer.

I don't like the new translation. It's too verbose, and the text is smaller and harder to read. The old one was better.

Mechanically, it's easier to play and the monster arena is a neat addition and the ng+ dungeon gives the player more of a reason to replay the game to get all the endings. The lost sanctum is really boring filler and is a slog that feels out of place compared to the rest of the game, but everything else is pretty kino. I'd say play whichever one sounds more attractive to you, and if you ever feel like replaying Chrono Trigger down the line, play the other version.

Can't replicate the sound and picture quality of the original on the ds. Need a crt for that. It's a fine port tho

The bottleneck/upper limit has always been the year 2000.
