You reeeeeeeally shouldn't list Rayman and Aero together, mister.

probably not the best choice

The Tomba games are great platformers/adventures.

Fucking this.

Also, unless you're into importing, check out Pulseman for the Genesis/Mega Drive on an emulator or virtual console or something. It's pretty sweet, and I'm really disappointed it was never localized.

>> No.670148

Do you mean games not developed by Nintendo or not on Nintendo consoles?
Because you really should be playing Capcom's Magical Quest series right now.

Please tell me you've already played Jumping Flash.

Because if you didn't, you should. The series might have its flaws, but damn it, it still manages to impress me somehow.

>> No.672049

There's also Tempo (Genesis) and Super Tempo (Sega Saturn) but the first one might be a hit or miss for you, depends on how you like your games. Also epilepsy alert. Super Tempo improved by a whole lot. And you can actually manage to get the best ending by normal means.

I wanted to say Ristar but then everybody else beat me to it. And to them I say.

You guys are awesome.

I guess Klonoa? But I probably ain't helping because I think everyone who had a Playstation played the first one and the sequel on the PS2.

Oddworld series? But those are more puzzle than platformer to me.

I think he meant both. But there can be some platformers on Nintendo consoles who were shunned by other much popular alternatives.

I wish to find every underrated platformer that has been shunned before I die. From any console or handheld. And it's sad that there seems to be so very few of them who even end up as a series.

Mega Drive:
- Dynamite Headdy
- Ristar
- Pulseman
- Aladdin

32X:
- Tempo

Sega Saturn:
- Astal
- Super Tempo
- Keio Flying Squadron 2

Playstation:
- Tomba
- Klonoa

N64:
- Mischief Makers

For me Rayman and Gex are incredibly overrated. And of course you should stay away from Bubsy. I'm surprised that I found somewhere else remembering Superfrog. Are you an Amigafag by any chance?

For me it's hit. The only letdown was the level design which even though it was ok it could be much better. But this game has so many charming points rarely found in platform games that I can forgive this little disadvance.

If Tempo was released for Mega Drive or Saturn instead of ill-fated 32X it would be more appreciated.

Forgot to mention:
- Rocket Knight Adventures for Mega Drive and its sequel Sparkster for SNES
- Pop'n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures for SNES
- Bonk and Adventure Island series
- Alex Kidd in Miracle World for Master System

There are so many other great platform games but these are the only ones that come to my mind at the moment.

Dynamite Headdy. Its one of the best games I've played on the Genesis.

I was going to say Gunstar Heroes but then I remembered its not a platform game but play it anyways, its awesome lol
