Hori was for some reason a third party manufacturer rather than a licensed second party for the Saturn, but their controllers are still the best on that console.

No I just think it's retarded to mod consoles to have RGB if they don't natively support it. Especially for the NES, the RGB colors are just straight-up wrong.

It's usually just simpler to have a flash cart though, no unplugging needed. You can also play hacks and homebrew.

I can agree with this, that console outputs composite straight from the video chip so you have to add a whole load of stuff on top to make it work. The only other console I know of that doesn't have native RGB is the N64 which is just plain stupid because the video chip obviously outputs RGB and the Super Famicom did have a port for it. I think they even used the same video port for the N64 as the Super Famicom.
