confusion, just use mednafen with a gui or a standalone emulator

>> No.6693469

If you aren't a dumbass, it just werks.
Download the latest nightly release, grab the BIOSes from the emulation gametech wiki, extract and drop the BIOSes in the right folder.

Set the directories to shit that make sense in the settings, use the online updater or core downloader to download cores (find the best ones per system on the same wiki for the BIOSes).

So do you only have like one or two systems that you play? Or do you seriously have dozens of bloaty apps (sorry, "programs" for you Windows users) cluttering up your start menu?

Anyway you look at it the UI has stupid confusing decisions like three different key binding screens with different functionalities.

Arguably the best emulation for every system up till Dreamcast. Ignore the UI fags, the standard Switch UI is fine to navigate.

An obtuse menu system, made-up zoomie term like “key bind” to replace perfectly good ones that already existed, and lots and lots of autism to make you pine for the days when stand-alone emulators were still your best option.

!!!!!!! ATTENTION !!!!!!!!

The following cores are pozzed by tranny developers, use alternatives specified in brackets unless you're ok with using software made by freaks

bsnes/higan (snes9x)
mGBA (VBA-M)
melonDS (desmume)

Honorable mention: MAME - made by people hostile to their userbase, use FBN if it supports the ROM you're playing

>mGBA (VBA-M)
Does this apply to the core or the standalone?
>Honorable mention: MAME - made by people hostile to their userbase
Oh nigger shut up. Autists getting mad at other autists isn't a reason to stop using it. Moreover MAMEfags tend to dissuade from using RA for the same "hostile to users" meme.
>use FBN
Objectively has compatibility and even worse accuracy for the roms it supports. Besides MAME eats shit in RA anyway, use the standalone instead.

>Does this apply to the core or the standalone?
Obviously both, as standalone versions are ported to RA in a largely unchanged state, albeit by different people usually
>Objectively has compatibility and even worse accuracy for the roms it supports. Besides MAME eats shit in RA anyway, use the standalone instead.
For the games it supports, FBN does it well. Contrary to MAME, it also supports Run Ahead and controller mapping through retroarch. Obviously if you want to play something like Sega System 32 you'd have to use MAME.
