Random encounters fucking ruin this game. I don't like constantly being on edge expecting that WOOOOOOOOSH sound to play any second. I don't like killing one monster, moving literally a foot away only to be assailed by another.

This game... THIS GAME.... kind of sucks.

What? What did I post that possibly warrants the go back to /v/ shoot down.

Couldn't the same be said of every RPG?

No shit sherlock. Panzer Dragoon Ein, Zwei and Orta are vastly superior to this garbage.

So use your fucking radar. Blue = safe, Yellow = enemies around, Red = encounter imminent. Fly to a different part of the map.

This is why RPGs have aged so badly

Every modern jrpg has either visible encounters you know when they can happen and avoid them or fast forward/auto battle options for this very purpose.

I agree. Taking away my ability to simply walk forward, without constantly springing "traps" has to be one of the most disempowering feelings in a video game. I pretty much can't stand JRPGs unless they display a sprite on the map for enemy encounters. Imagine if you were playing Mario, but you couldn't actually see the goombas until you were right on them. It's just inherently fucking annoying.

random encounters are worse than jump scares

This had less random encounters than most jarpigs from what I remember, and the battle system was fun

>> No.6687501

The only game that managed to get Random Encounters right is Wild Arms 3.

Yeah not like 90% of the map is red and yellow zones, and you can't actually see where the monsters are.

I understand if it was a mechanic in like, the earliest RPGs back when they were still just emulating board games, but come on Panzer Dragoon Saga is 1998.

The battles are the game. What are you playing for?
