Unfortunately it would take a lot of effort to translate if it renders text vertically like >>6677947 said. Altering the game to draw the text horizontally is on par with but slightly more work than implementing a variable width font. Then there's still the matter of a variable width font on top of that. That's not to say it'll never get a translation, just that it might be a while longer before someone with the required hacking skills and passion to complete the project comes along.

I like the series as a whole.
The big problem with the first game is that it only works properly when played on the real thing. That's the big problem with pre-rendered stuff. Still, it's a great game.
