Every review says that the controls are horrible. However, I played through this and in my opinion, the controls are MUCH better than their NES counterparts. I never experienced the unresponsive controls. What do you think?

I definitely noticed the controls being a bit less responsive, even if they weren't though I'd stick to the NES versions.
Now for a fun fact: the trilogy's NG3 is a mix of the US and JP NES/Famicom versions. The damage enemies deal is in line with the Famicom version but the enemy spawns are from the NES version. This is true in the JP version of the trilogy as well.

The lag is so microscopic now and you can make it look as good as you want it to look. Core emulation of the SNES has been perfect for years.
