There was a small but dedicated scene in Japan for western PC games from the beginning. PC gaming became more mainstream over there in the 2000s.

Wasn't this game a sequel or spin-off to Postal? I think the same developers worked on it since It had the same mechanics and graphics.

Different devs, and different genre as well. Redneck Rampage was by Xatrix Tntertainment, who also made Kingpin: Life of Crime and Quake II: The Reckoning (also Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but that was after they changed their name to Grey Matter)
Postal is by Running with Scissors, it's the only series they have ever worked on, and the first game was an isometric shooter.

I'm pretty sure I know what game you're talking about, but even then no, it wasn't a spin-off of Postal and wasn't made by the same devs. It was also made in 2005 or something so...

Yeah, that one. That's what I would think it would be since it's a failed attempt at being both Redneck Rampage and Postal 2.

Damn you're right, thanks guys, this could have been solved with a quick google search.

>I'm pretty sure I know what game you're talking about

See, that's the one I was talking about but I got it mixed up with Redneck Rampage. I know it was isometric like Postal and you navigate through trailer parks shooting similar stereotyped characters. I remember it being earlier than 2005 but then again my memory's kinda fucked likely due to my alcoholism.

>> No.6660837

>>6660772
Looked it up and it's not that one although it could be maybe there was a trailer park stage in Postal 1 where you shoot angry country folk which probably led to my confusion.

There was also a game where you controlled an angry cartoon deer who hunts rednecks like in a hunting simulator which was also a spin-off to either RR or maybe another hunting game. But that one's not retro enough.

>> No.6660854

>>6660837
There was a trailer park level in the first Postal, so that could be it.
Redneck Rampage had a hunting spinoff game, but you were still playing as Leonard. Might be Deer Avenger you're thinking of.

>Deer Avenger

Yup. That one. Came out in 1999, technically retro by today's standards. But I don't think it's spun-off from RR. It was made by Hypnotix not Xantrix.

Looks kinda dumb actually but I'm probly being too quick to judge.

This and Duke Nukem 3D were some of the very first video games I ever played, when I was around 5-10 years old. I know this game is considered shit now, but something about build engine levels feels so magical to me, the first level of this game is burned in my brain and it feels so dream like

True. And you ARE more likely to accidentally stumble and fall into an HIV needle in the inner city than you are in some random backwoods.

Well, there's bums, but I was mostly just thinking about how inner-cities typically have more safety nets for you if you're poor. Overall though, I generally retract my comment.

I would much rather live in some backwoods poor area of Kentucky than the human shit and HIV needle covered side-walks of San Francisco. And it's not rednecks that are gross, it's hill billies. Hill billies are the incestuous, moon-shining, dilapidated-house-living poor of the rural country-side. Rednecks are just hard workers and live in the rural areas and drink beer.

It was mostly intended as a facetious response, entertaining the idea of anon's dumb post. And I don't think rednecks are gross, they're just rugged, and there's a lot of very wealthy rednecks out there too.

I would also much rather live in some backwoods poor area of Kentucky than the human shit and HIV needle covered side-walks of San Francisco.
