This cabinet was special and included a score that's the real reason George was obsessed with it. It was worth thousands to the right buyer. They never mention this in the show but it is 100% true

It was all about the pay off at the end where george gets to test his Frogger ability IRL.
In reality the original Frogger machines didn't include initials with your high score, and it's implied that the machine was never turned off at the power switch, keeping his score and initials for 15+ years.

Do they mention in the episode that the machine saves initials? George's score in the show is so high that only three people have scored higher in a recorded game of Frogger, and it didnt happen for the first time until 2009. Its possible George had a personal attachment to the number because the score was so good. George is such a narcissist that he probably figured a score so high might as well be his autograph. There's also the possibility that George is aware that this is the only machine with a legitimate high score so good and he is desperate to preserve it (because he conflates his frogger score with his own personal worth)

JERRY: Hey, look at the high score--"G.L.C." George Louis Costanza. That's not you, is it?

GEORGE: Yes! 860,000. I can't believe it's still standing. No one has beaten me in like 10 years.

GEORGE: The perfect combination of Mountain Dew and mozzarella...just the right amount of grease on the joy stick...

Notice that the table makes no sense, scores not displayed properly as a high score table would normally, indicative of something made up just for the episode and the premise of George having the high score on a machine that doesn't actually keep initials.

George's father was also a gamer. Jerry also had some NES games but considering we never saw the system I'm not convinced he actually used them past his college years.

> The Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard issued a colorful poster that offered a $1,000 cash prize to the first video game player who could break George Costanza's fictional Frogger high score of 860,630 points as portrayed in "The Frogger". No player was able to break this mark before the December 31, 2005, deadline.
>On December 22, 2009, Pat Laffaye of Westport, Connecticut, United States, scored a Frogger world record high score of 896,980 points.[1] His score was beaten by Michael Smith, who scored 970,440 points on July 15, 2012.[2] Laffaye again retook the Frogger world record with a high score of 1,029,990 on August 15, 2017.[3] These are the only three scores that have been verified as having beaten the fictional George Costanza Seinfeld score.

Well at least Twin Galaxies is consistent with fake high scores like George Costanza, Billy Mitchell and Todd Rogers ay?

the frogger cabinet has a high score system, but only shows the top 5 scores with 5 digits. After 100000 the counter rolls over. So technically you can get all these scores but the counter will only show the first 5 digits, so having to record your entire run is the only way to really prove you made it.
Now we all know that TG are full of shit, but it would be nice if they uploaded the runs to youtube. A 800k score run on Mame is on youtube.
