Anyone knows of any overlooked platformers worth looking at?

>> No.6653957

No, I don't. They must all be too obscure, underrated, and overlooked.

Wow so this is the legendary high level of discussion that retro GBA threads will supposedly put an end to.

Oh, yes, I'm just not sure what would be a better use of the board's space: sanctioned GBA shitters, or twenty-thousand more "hidden gems" threads.

>> No.6654060

>>6653974
What’s wrong with having hidden gems threads? I don’t see them that often on here and it’s fun to have people share their favorite games with each other.

No, only talk about Nintendo. No hidden gems allowed. Nintendo doesn't have any so nobody else can either. Make another DKC and Yoshi's Island thread, do it.

Rendering Ranger R2

Ignore the shitty box art, this game is the best run and gun platformer for super famicom.

If you like metal slug / turrican definitely check it out.

It looks OK, definitely not the best of anything I've seen. Has a lot of typical Eurodev qualities to it and that music is just rough.

But its fun, i cant say that about contra on the snes, besides the genesis version was superior.

Tobias Richter, one of the artists who did most of the raytracing stuff in that game lives like 5 minutes away from here. His studio hasn't moved since the 90s.

I think you get slightly better resolution on PS1.

Honestly this. These games are just as polished as Mario, DK, and Yoshi, but being japan only and extremely cutesy killed it... not to mention deceptively easy first few levels.

Shame Hudson never did anything interesting with Milon ever again and now he's in Konami's basement.
