So so far cut boss shapes:

For Andross:
TOGE (????, maybe we can get Watanbe's shape files for these one, look for A_TOGE_F.ANM)
DOKURO (Skull that someone posted earlier seems to be that)

Now for the actual cut content:
DADA (Room Boss) - Not sure on this one, DADA_0_1.ANM should be its animation file

PIERROT - But its animation file is commented out ( PIERROT.ANM for anyone that wants to see if they can find how he would behave )
PHOENIX - PHOE_B.ANM is its shape.

Funny enough - a lot of scrapped boss shapes are alternative looks for most of the bosses - again the devs were ambitious but I guess the framerate was getting chugged by these.

The anon that decoded the dino legs had it I'm sure.

So here's an interesting part:

Assets - graphics, shapes etc. Were finished by January of 1995. Meaning the biggest problem turned out to be what Starfox 2 wanted to be - having all the assets and such one can try to recreate Starfox 2 of their dreams as sort of a 'side project' - David's code is well documented and uses a lot of macros to simulate complex functions often found in C. Mario chip is weird and as long as someone figures out how that logic works it's most likely very easy to convert that into OpenGL.

The Boss AI and such seem to also use some sort of a scripting language so deciphering that will also help out.

In other words: SF2 PC is doable. SF2 of our dreams on PC is doable. SF2 on real hardware, well there are issues with that (ROM constrains). Dunno if this is doable or not due to how SFX2 chip works.

Andorf is Andross's Japanese name and the only time it wasn't is if the game lacked a Japanese language option (Adventures and Assault). When the game finally was put on the SNES mini they finally "corrected" the dialog at the end of Falco saying "Adios, Andorf" into "Adios, Andross"
The real interesting thing is that this concept art >>6648421 is that Andrew is part of it and labeled as such, but was instead replaced by Algy the Lemur in Star Fox 2 proper. Only to change their mind later and go with Andrew anyway for 64.

Why would they have builds of levels with that power-up but nothing else?

There's a lot of shit going on with different games on /v/, tcrf's discord and even here on /vr/ that it's making it difficult to stay on track. I'm thinking of making a pastebin for all these SF2 discoveries.
I see some people made some scripts on converting those .anm and .txt files to modern 3D modeling software files and there's the zip with all current beta ROMS. I want to add file paths to all that cut content and make a timeline of sorts for the development of the game.

Gettin my ASS kicked but I'm still not dead yet.

This is just a bit harder than expert in SF2. Certain enemies are able to take up more of your time though so the order you take on planets REALLY matters because andross will send ships to take a planet over again and grow his forces back up. From the read me
KNOWN ISSUES:
-Voice lines may be panned a little bit towards the left audio channel.
-Some voice lines may be a little harder to hear over the music if using headphones.
-Certain lines of dialogue in the game were added in the remake and have no equivalent in the original script. You can read a list of these unique lines here: https://starfox.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Fox_64_3D/Script
-General Pepper dialogue at the end of the game is cut off too late and uses a separate line for "I would be honored to have you as part of the Cornerian army" that I have not accounted for in this release.

FUTURE PLANS:
-Restore the original soundtrack using samples and MIDI sequences from the original game.
-Continue to polish the voice lines so that they sound just right in-game.

I think Zelda 64, from what we know, was initially going to be a smaller game similar to Mario 64 where you warp to different points in Hyrule via Ganon's Tower, but then Nintendo tried their hand at making bigger environments and everything shifted design-wise. Later in the A+B era of Zelda 64, yeah, it was probably gonna be larger than what we got, if the beta Kokiri Forest is anything to go by.

Biggest issue with BOTW is how empty it is. If it had proper towns, dungeons, weapon combat that wasn't shit, more varied items, etc. it could be a proper revival of what Zelda 2 tried to do. I even think a basic leveling up system would help as well, where you pick areas like strength, staminw, ex, etx. The original scope for OOT was without a doubt larger; just look at Beta Kokiri Forest that dumped. But I do think a lot of the scale of areas was unnecessary, just being large for the sake of touting the hardware. Beta Kokiri Forest is fucking huge, sure, but it likely had the same amount of content as the final forest, just more empty space to spend time walking across.

Not to say that there weren't lots of things from the beta that would have been cool, like unused tunics and boots and medallions and arrows and dungeons, but there's a reason why all the areas we've been able to see ended up getting condensed.

In BOTW, every weapon has a singular type of strike associated with it. Of course there are unique jumping, counter and charge style attacks per weapon type, but when you're pressing the attack button it comes across exactly the same each time. OOT-TP had vertical, horizontal, stabbing attacks, etc depending on how you held the stick while attacking. While someone could get by with mashing and not caring, if you use the correctly there is reasonable depth to their use and function. I hate to bring up the Dark Souls comparison, but movesets in that game are very similar to OOT. Yeah, I do agree though they could go a lot further with that style implimentation. Apparently the hookshot was in the game at a certain point and was removed.

I also think that if weapons break, you should be able to bring them to a blacksmith to repair them. Would solve a lot of issues right there. Give everything a proper upgrade path while you're at it.

That OC enraged me as well. They went too far into self fellating with idea creep up the ass. i think both of these things are absent because there's no crafting system besides cooking. Armor upgrades come close but to me it feels like something they added as an afterthought, as in they first came up with like the dragons and the scales they drop and then with something that could actually use said scales.

You're confusing the SNES-CD with the 64DD.

Nintendo worked with Sony to make the SNES-CD, an add-on for the SNES that would play CD based games to rival the Sega CD. However, three things happened nobody could account for:

1.) The Sega CD bombed out of control and was the first major step to Sega knocking themselves out of the console war
2.) Sony tried to make every contract in their favour to the point where they would be making massive bank on the SNES-CD games, and Nintendo's own IPs.
3.) Argonaut Games showed Nintendo the Super-FX chip, while Rare showed them Donkey Kong Country

Nintendo realized they didn't need to take Sony's bullshit deal that fucked them over in every way because Sega shot themselves in the foot, and these British devs they were in bed with had way better and more cost effective options. Nintendo gave a big fuck you to Sony and announced they were partnering with Philips on their CDi console by letting them have the rights to Mario and Zelda for a few games, and Sony's reps at the announcement immediately got up and left. Sony decided that since they already invested so much money in the SNES-CD (now called PlayStation), and it was basically developed by Nintendo, they could release it and try to fuck Nintendo over by offering better deals to developers, Square being the most high-profile turncoat.

Sony were the villains, not Nintendo.

Internally, the arrows and spells, even the unused ones, are named after the temples.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq5OoSlpu-w

At the start of the video, you can see the Fire Medallion in the slot where Fire Arrows should go, and the Shadow Medallion in the slot where Din's Fire goes. In pic related, from later in the video, you can see the spot where the bow goes is connected to six other spots for the medallions. Beating a temple got you a medallion you could use on its own for a magic spell, or combine with the bow to use elemental arrows.

There's code that shows that the Soul Arrows (Spirit) deals extra damage to undead enemies, and Nayru's Love is the Spirit Medallion's spell.

I can easily tell you why: Some things you have to cut cause they don't fit. The problem is that CES show demo while fast paced and hard if tweaked properly would've been solid gold.

Other times it's just that enemy has that one quirk that plain doesn't work and it has to be cut.

Spirit Medallion - Nayru's Love

Shadow Medallion - Has damage values listed in the code, so it was offensive like Din's Fire

If you think about it, why would the Wind Medallion function as Farore's Wind in a game without fast travel with a world as big as OoT's? We have several different builds of YI, one of which contains all Baby Mario except the prerendered cutscene when you lose him which shows him as the baby wizard. So at some point the game was about Yoshi protecting the baby wizard, and then they changed it to Baby Mario.

The builds where the baby wizard is intact show him using a wand to turn Yoshi into all the different transformations, so that part makes a lot more sense.

So the three spells plus the 3 types of arrows would have served as the Medallion powers, is what I gather.
You know that is kind of interesting on itself but that reminds me of Majora's mask and how the main item of each dungeon was a new type of arrow, I could speculate that maybe they reused the idea they originally had for Zelda 64 when they made Majora.

So in theory on a reality where Zelda 64 kept its original ideas instead of unlocking new parts of the map with Items the world would have require you to use the spells you got in the dungeons to advance in the adventure similar to how the different arrows serve as keys to the different areas in Termina in Majora's mask.

Indeed. I just finished doing a run on the final retail and it just made me wanna play the CES rom some more. EXPERT is fun on the final but the CES has so many more enemies that matter. You can practically ignore most filler on the final because they just put buttons to step on everywhere.

It made so much more sense to be going to blow up enemy supplies rather than just some switches then some random base everywhere while ignoring the robots that could just rebuild it on the spot.

The fact that andross can recapture places also made the game much more challenging and strategic on your order of capture. They really had some gold with that formula. I wonder if someone stepped in to mess up the pudding.

Okay, that explains Hako. But you must have missed the part where I asked you to explain how you arrived at Mario > Wizard > Baby Mario. Unless you mean to say that Hako was in the process of becoming Mario (since some sprites have a mustache), you seem to be implying a build between Super Donkey and Proto YI that we don’t have.

>implying
There's no implication at all, we absolutely are missing a build. There's evidence in the Yoshi's Island builds that Baby Mario was some kind of Wizard Baby at some point. Check out this video, look carefully just after Yoshi hits the bubble. You'll see Mario turn into a different character entirely and do an animation. It's remnant from an even earlier time in YI's development. The bonus game backgrounds have this Wizard Baby drawn on the walls instead of Baby Mario as seen in the final, too.
This means the Yoshi's Island prototypes we have are somewhere at the end of a transition period where this Wizard Baby was removed in favor of Mario.

Hi everyone! I extended the convertANM.py/convert.py script to handle both text and anm files, and it handles color data! The anm have references to indexed color, but I don't know where the color actually is, so you can either input it manually with a -c argument or just let the script guess for you. You can easily edit the colors in Blender to make them look better too.

Just drag and drop the .txt or .anm file onto the script and it'll work. Open them in blender the way you normally would. Make sure you check mtl per frame for the Blender add-on for the animations.

Pic related is an example of the output. Someone else has probably done this already, but I wanted to make something public for everyone so they can look at the files themselves.

No. There is no "next leak" until there actually is a next leak, and I doubt there will be.

We KNOW that the code we don't have is because this was from the iQue servers. They didn't give them all the data. They just gave them what they thought they needed to translate. The fact that these beta objects are there is a coincidence.

git gud scrubs

20100713cvs_backup.tar.7z, bbgames.7z, netcard.7z, other.7z

- Converted from CVS to git; complete with branches, tags, authors, and commit messages
- Generated file lists and extracted metadata (excludes .git and .svn folders)
- Made some tasty treats

20100713cvs_backup.7z - gofile * io/d/YsGg3Q
bbgames.7z - gofile * io/d/AREVXx
netcard.7z - gofile * io/d/MFrFyi
other.7z - gofile * io/d/JsvrIh

Notes:
Expect some Japanese text encoding issues with file names and git commit messages
Having Japanese language support on your OS may help
Using WinRAR you can set the text encoding when you extract the archive to preserve it
Files will work better on a case sensitive file system, if on Windows you can make case sensitive folders using WSL 2
git repo's should ignore permissions changes
Metadata for the following folder has been excluded
- netcard/gba/depot-offline/sw/gvm/external (Linux packages)
Metadata for some directories has been chunked to make smaller file sizes

Treats:
All PCB/Schematic related files
- Created PDFs and images from schematics, PCB designs, gerbers, and dxf files
- Made some 3D PDFs for PCBs
- Updated Eagle files to newer versions
pcb.tar.7z - gofile * io/d/4BzHBv

Only documentation (.doc, .pdf, etc..)
docs.7z - gofile * io/d/lorLKI

All nested archives extracted, excludes other files

Instead of having to use CVS and chekout files everything is already "checked out" into a git repository. This way it preserves all the file history while making it easier to use. The metadata scraping shows information about each file, depending on the filetype this can include every person who ever modified the file, the name of their computer, what directory that file was in when it was modified etc...

The file lists and directory trees make it easier to see what is actually in each folder without having to click through them. The filelists also include checksums and make it easier to compare files to see if they're the same.

The other stuff I created/converted is so it's easier for people to actually look at some of this stuff.

Tunnel Runner comes in at around 8 mins in at the meteor level.

Octo comes in at around 23? I didn't know the boss well so I kinda left and came back to it. After safely repairing my ship since I killed the entire rest of the map

(save as convert.bat)

@echo off

set EXE=convertFULL.py
FOR %%i IN ("*.txt") DO %EXE% %%i
FOR %%i IN ("*.anm") DO %EXE% %%i

MKDIR out
FOR %%i IN ("*.obj") DO MOVE %%i ./out/%%i
FOR %%i IN ("*.mtl") DO MOVE %%i ./out/%%i
PAUSE

Be sure to change set EXE=convertFULL.py to whatever you named your python script.
Pic related is the setup. Output files will be put in a directory called "out'

It seems to be abandoned early on, it lack the yoshi riding tiles, most of castle-destruction tiles, victory pose, falling(when you descent after jump).. Interesting if true. That would explain the "mustached" Baby Mario and the adult Mario sprites (assuming those did indeed come from a Yoshi's Island build).
