I would love to know what's on this cartridge

If you live in a PAL territory, it is safe to say any game with an ESRB rating on it is a fake.

Not exactly bootlegs but this is what it's kind of evolving into

You know it, man. What's even better is when a game a has the ESRB's "rating pending" on the label.

how can you tell the middle one is a bootleg?

>> No.662939

The label seems fine though may lack sheen. Also, if I'm not mistaken the cartridge should be a darker tint and less translucent.

What's most obvious is the battery which is visible. GBA games had no battery.

Unless you count the Wisdom Tree games.

Oh god, I should dig out both my bootleg copies of Gold and Silver when I visit my parents again. There's some odd shit going on in those and I remember in Silver around when you get to Kanto none of the NPCs stop speaking completely.

It's sort of odd. I remember Silver as being completely incomprehensible most of the time (I remember Bite being called "Killsture" for whatever reason) and the names of the Pokémon seem to have been directly romanized forms of their Japanese ones. It was pretty well hacked together otherwise though. Gold on the other hand was a oretty good translation. Both item and Pokémon names seemed to match but it was a pretty poor hackjob with all capital letters and maximum letter limit of 6 or s something meaning all names were ridiculously shortened. I think we bought them in Thailand or Malaysia or somehting. Man, I hope I kept those things.

Does it run on PocketNES? Never understood why pirates had to cram in the worst possible games on those things when they had literally the entire NES library to chose from

>> No.666253

The internet wasn't widely available in China until a few years after it caught on here.
If the pirates didn't have internet access they just used whatever games they had on hand.

Anyone played 'Pokemon Diamond' on the Gameboy Colour?

Yes, my parents gave me a compilation game card with that on it. Some awesome things on it, but Pokémon Diamond was a confusing thing to play because of the translation. I believe it's just a hack of Telefang which was never released properly.
