What are games like Ultima 4 where I'll have to go around, talk to people, gather hints and note down stuff to progress?

System Shock 1 didn't have you talk to people, but you had to find email logs to learn how to progress. You might have someone radio in and point you in the right direction, but if you didn't know where the radiation suit, how to get it, etc then you wouldn't progress. They also would hide keycodes on panels and shit, which you wouldn't know to use or find if you didn't hear audio logs mentioning them. There was a few instances where Shodan would literally just tell you what to do, though.

There's also Deus Ex 1, but less so.

Not Wizardry. Map quest markers were invented for brainless and ended up killing RPGs.

Morrowind is good for this. You have a map and a log, but no quest marker bleeping on your world map.

Myst minus the talking to people part. You alone collecting anything that can be a clue for any possible future puzzles. I barely play any of the games but from my understanding it is just one of those games you may as well buy a $1 notebook for, a single sheet of paper won't cut it.
