I think it will get worse. I don't see the games becoming "worthless" (even though they are by every pragmatic metric. Flashcarts, Superior emulation, Repros, Virtual Console/Official emualtion).

The people doing this aren't into videogames like us. Sure they might like mario but at the end of the day they are just trying to make coin.

I think so long as we keep a historical record of the artificial inflation we can teach future generations why not to buy the originals (that will inevitably be sold for shit loads of dosh). You will see James on Antique roadshow in the year 2032 evaluating games believe me.

I think if you are looking for fun pragmatic collecting (what retro game collecting used to be) we are going to have to go the repro route which is honestly a nice change for someone whos so fucking tired of seeing the same HURRR I JUSTNBOUGHT A SATURN BROS post online for the hundredth time. There are two dangers that I see that MUST be stopped by any means necessary.

1) These assholes start lobbying against emulation, preservationists, and flashcarts

The only way to counter all this buffoonery is to educate future generations that these games were LITERAL GARBAGE. Tossed to the side when new consoles came out. The most anyone should pay for a game that sold a million copies is $40 at the very most
