Have we solved this issue yet?
All of my OEM sticks are Mario Party'd to hell, and I've yet to find a replacement that doesn't go spastic in GoldenEye.

Can also recommend the steel stick, saw one of the "pro"-smash 64 players talking about them saying that he has been fine for several years using the same controller thanks to it.

It's such a fucking shame. These look like an excellent solution but the guy working on them is slower than a snail. The last update was from November 2016

He's actually more active on his twitter, but he's still working on the original ~500 orders that were placed back in 2016.

Great. Only have to wait 5+ more years

Kitsch-bent makes replacement bowls and gears, although it looks like they're out of the bowls right now. You can get them from other places on the internet, though.

A replacement bowl/gears and a tube of Joystick Butter will be just fine.

Wish the chinks would get on this after they are done cloning the Saturn ODE.

Wasn't the issue with the gears around the stick?

>> No.6581519

>>6580690
Alternatively you can go to the shop and buy an A bowl for $50, or a B bowl for $20. Then like $5 on brand new plastic gears, and then lube it with the free lube he sends you and you're like 95% of the way to perfect. That's what I did. Wish I had a steel stick itself, but this will certainly do.

>he hasn’t gotten his steel stick yet
You must’ve gotten on the sellers bad side

>> No.6581709

>>6581380
The issue was the plastic bowl and stick rubbing on each other eventually wearing the stick to sink in, which then fucks the gears.

If they ever come back in stock, the B bowls seem like a pretty solid deal for getting some more life out of N64 controllers.

They seem to come back like every year or so, rather inconsistent.
I emailed him asking when they would come back, or if he had any lying around that I could buy. Hey replied saying yes to both. He had a few A grade bowls (about 20 I think) that never got used or something, and listed them shortly after. I think like three months later the new batch of all bowls came in.
And I have to agree it is a solid deal, even if it's supposed to be imperfect, a few of those would be great for my guest controllers... okay maybe just one more. Even the party machine n64 can't draw a crowd these days I guess.
at least it feels authentic and not completely wrong and half baked like the game cube joystick solutionl.
