Sony PlayStation or Sega Saturn:
Which system did these two games justice?

PlayStation has true transparency and Saturn doesn't. Transparent lighting effects are key to the fifth generation console Mega Man experience and so I have to hand it to the PlayStation.

No contest. Ports removed some graphical effects.

> X4: Saturn
transparency uses hardware dithering on Saturn, but thanks to emulation you can make it actual alpha transparency, eliminating the PS1 version's edge.
AND enjoy less compressed backgrounds and exclusive 2d effects not in the PS1 version (heat waves, some scaling effects)
All other ports are based on the PS1 version, and recently censored on top.

> X6: PS1 + retranslation / game design fix romhack

Classic MM

> 7 : SNES JP + retranslation
Adds missing content back, three characters commenting on Rock's items.
> 8 : Saturn
Has a lot of exclusive content like new bosses, different music...
> 8.5 / MM & Bass : SNES JP + retranslation
GBA has screen cropping and an official machine translation

For X4 and 8, Saturn and PlayStation were the lead platforms, respectively, and even load a little faster, at least in my informal testing. (Contrary to popular belief, 8 was not designed for Saturn initially - the true story was that Sony OF AMERICA turned down it down at first, but seeing that the Saturn version was greenlit in America, they accepted on the condition that first print runs have the commemorative booklet to have an extra incentive over the Saturn port - the leaked proto is of the PlayStation version, supporting it.)

I feel like this has to be a falseflag to make Sony fans look desperate.
MM8 in particular has more content than the PS version, transparencies are probably the least important thing of all, especially if you're playing on CRT where dithering effects work.

Wasn't saturn mm9 toted as a special edition? Was that the reason it had extra content?

Big surprise, the Saturd version looks like shit.
Look at the buildings in the background too, the colors are off.

To me it seems like the buildings look better on Saturn, on PS1 they look like they forgot to color them differently from the sky.

Mega Man X4 is fine either way, but I like the japanese Saturn cover best. Mega Man 8 on Saturn has two extra bosses (Cut Man and Wood Man) that are otherwise irrelevant in the main game, some extras like an artwork gallery if you care about that and the music is slightly different.

B-But mesh transparencies have SOUL and the Saturn version has better heat effectzz, enjoy your horrid port Snoy!!
