I love how in Bloodlines, you fucking VANQUISH the shit out of enemies. It really feels like you're exorcising the evil with the Vampire Killer. I really like how you travel around the world, too, really adds depth to the game.

>> No.6562275

it really makes you FEEL like castlevania

>> No.6562278

The poor sound effects ruin it for me.
Traveling across Europe was a cool change though.

Come on, man, it does have that POW, you know what I mean?

Thunder sounds are fucking shit, yeah.

Is this the weird Castlevania where the difficulty peaks early then slacks off for the rest of the game?

Bloodlines is easy the whole way through

>> No.6562354

>>6562294
Not as easy as Super Castlevania Bore at least.

>> No.6562365

>>6562354
Bloodlines is way easier than Super. Especially if both are played on their expert mode.

You shut your FOUR mouth. Get it? I made a pun! Because we're talking about Castlevania IV, haha! Four sounds like whore, and "shut your whore mouth" is a popular expression, haha. Funny joke!
Don't talk shit about Super Castlevania, it's fucking awesome.

Nah, Bloodlines Expert mode is a little harder.
Medusa heads and bats are fucking everywhere, it's really annoying.

>> No.6562415

>>6562408
There are bats everywhere in the expert mode of Super too, that's really a staple of expert mode in CV games.

True, but I didn't find that quite as bad. Maybe it's because I only played through Bloodlines Expert 3 times in my life, where as i've done Super's expert multiple times.

Super doesn't have an expert mode, but rather a second loop, poser.

Just put in a password to start on the second loop (expert mode), dumbass.

And this whole time I thought the 1-up's existence was nothing more than a "hey I see you messed up that jump, here's basically infinite chances to get it right now that you know this 1up is here". I learned something today.

Grab it on Switch. It's not that good of a game though, level design is very hit and miss, with more miss than hit.

So I'm inputting the Konami code on the title screen of Bloodlines to unlock expert mode and it's not working. I even enabled the emulator option to show my inputs on screen and I'm doing it correctly. I even fired up NES Contra and the code works fine there. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

>> No.6562712

>>6562710
You have to input it with a specific rhythm. It's really annoying.

O fuck. There is no genre on Earth I suck at more than Rhythm games. I think I may just beat the damn game on Normal to unlock it instead and use a save state for easy access later.

Liked the first CV, didn't expect CV III to be this fun. It really is a great game. The famicom ost is god-tier, crazy sound for an NES game.

While I like Bloodlines, there are quite a lot of things about it I find a bit offputting.

>> No.6563340

It would be great if they made more Simon Belmont games. Not remakes, but standalone games.

Yes, but my screen is a filthy pleb non-CRT so I wasn't expecting it to work.
>>6563348
BizHawk 2.4. It's a multi-emulator built for speedrunning so I figured it must be super accurate and highly responsive. It works great and can do everything up to 5th gen, but it lacks the fancy visual options of other emus, not a big deal for me. It's basically Retroarch for hipsters.
