Why is the genesis version of shadowrun so good and the super nintendo version so bad?

Snes has the better characters and atmosphere.
Sega is kind of dull and the environments suck dick

Because you didn't have to manually aim in a system that was obviously intended for a mouse.
The SNES version has its' charm, but combat was better on the Genesis.
Adding to that the fact that the world was bigger in the genesis game and the story didn't hold you by that hand, and you have a great little game.
SNES protagonist > Genesis protagonist, though.
Genesis sidekicks > SNES sidekicks on the flipside.

This is not a port, they are completely different games, only use the same universe.
I personally prefer the mega drive one, but the snes is good too.

This. Game on X Console VS Game on Y Console threads are just console wars bullshit. Most of the time it's not even the same game, or even the same developer. All three of the retro Shadowrun games were made by different devs. The few times it actually is the same game from the same dev, all it shows is that dev was better at one console over the other. Worrying about arcade or PC ports on consoles is also a waste, since you can just play the superior originals.

Love the snes version, but I'm curious about the genesis since Ive never played.

The music and atmosphere pulled me into the story. The controls were shit, but it wasnt enough to keep me away.
